Quite a magical place. Very calm. Surrounded by grandiose Baikal with turquoise water. Sacred cows licking sweets or salt off the rocks. Bluest ribbons on wooden posts. All adds some magical aspects to this special place. I would strongly reccomend.
A beautiful view of Baikal from Olkhon island. Very peaceful and contemplative - for walks along the shore, climbing down to pebbled beaches, sitting on the rocks and enjoying the moment. Splendid sunsets.
Shamanka rock is the main attraction on Baikal Lake. The largest resort is in this area. All the hotels are nearby. People will take minibus to the Baikal Lake in Winter to see the ice crack. The most peak season for tourist is in January...More

My impression is that Irkutsk is a nice city, our tour guide for 4 days is a local who told us Irkutsk is a famous college town in east Siberia area. My impression is that most people went to Listvyanka and Baikal towns are Russians for summer holiday.
