While on vacation visiting my family in Grand Junction Colorado they took me to Highland Lake. It has a great campground, breathtaking mountain views and an awesome lake to swim in. Plenty of picnic area with bbq grills. And the park rangers are very friendly...More

The park has several picnic tables that are in shaded locations. There is a nice swim area with a beach. You can also go fishing there.

Nice local campground. No sewage, electric, or water at campsites. A generator is a must but not allowed to use it after 10 PM The rangers are constantly watching for camp violations and are not afraid to speak their positions. Good lake swimming

Great place to relax with friends and paddle board. Float, work hard, or go with the flow...great time and not too crowded. 7 bucks to get in.

We've stayed at Highline Lake State Park Campground twice, both times to take advantage of the nearby mountain biking at 18 Road, Mary's Loop, Kokopelli Trail, etc. It's a drive from Highline Lake to get to those places (10-15 miles), but it was worth it...More

For our annual family camp weekend we stayed in 2 super huge side by side campsites. The ground was really level and the bathroom/showers were close by. The swim beaches were loved by the kids and hours and hours were spent boating on the lake....More

I'm not sure exactly what you are after but there is a big grassy day-use area with lots of tables and room to play. It's close to the beach area.
