Join us for underground mine tours, exhibits packed with mining history and machinery and a fantastic underground gift shop brimming with treasures. You can also pick up last minute supplies at the Company Store located just outside the mine porthole. The mine is located on the Alpine Loop National Back Country Byway, near the Hidden Treasure mill site and the ghost town of Treasure City.It is a constant 45 degrees in the mine, so a light jacket is recommended. Tours are handicap accessible and state inspected. Group tours are available year round by appointment.

The tour was not real long and it was a walking tour. Our family went as their own group so it was just 9 of us. There was no panning for gold here but there is a small gift shop.

The 20+ minute tour was led by an old timer who was informative but couldn't get the group to laugh at his subtle jokes. The Rock and mineral display was the best part of the tour. This tour is through an old tunnel for removing...More

The drive to the Hard Tack Mine is a little dusty and bumpy but worth it. Bill, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the mines and other history. If you have really small children, they could get a little bored during the tour. The...More
