The viewing tower is currently closed due to renovations, we were disappointed to not be able to see the views of the city.

Superb panoramic views of the surrounding mountain/ocean. Certainly a prime reason to support Santa Barbara's famous description: "The American Riviera"- this charming, historical building where court cases are still heard within its walls. Convenient elevator to the top floor exterior observation level. Free admission. A...More

Just to clarify, the Mural Room is not a courtroom. It used to be the meeting room for the County Board of Supervisors and is now used for many different purposes.

I had visited the Courthouse on my own several years ago and found it beautiful. This time, however, I was able to take the free docent tour and learned so much more about the history and architecture of the courthouse.

This a beautiful building with a lot of history. Also a popular place for weddings. Beautiful gardens, and architecture for photos.

I can't remember for sure, but since it is a public building in use every day as a courthouse I am pretty sure it opens at least by 9 am.
