We enjoyed our road trip down the coast from SF so much that we took Route 1 for the ride back home. Lots of places to park and view the beautiful ocean. The farms along the way are also interesting.

The coastal views are phenomenal - take your time, don't rush by. There are plenty of places to stop off and take in the view. You can often see elephant seals.

Great countryside. We were heading north to Monterey...got all the way to Ragged Point and there was a sign that said the road was closed. Would have been nice to know that a bit earlier in the drive.
