Palm Springs has a long connection as a winter playground for those in Hollywood and between its stars and statues, it is great to see that historical connection. One example at the main crossroads of downtown Palm Springs just off Palm Canyon Drive is a statue to Lucille Ball, a pioneer in woman's comedy TV. Like many stars she had a home in Palm Springs and the city has paid tribute to her. It is easy to find just off the main street and made for pictures. We managed to get a picture and say "I Love Lucy."

The statue was just off of Palm Canyon Drive, in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. We thought it was a decent likeness of Lucille Ball. of course with the bench and inviting seat next to Lucy, we had to take multiple pictures. Fun!

During our tour of Palm Springs, located a beautiful bronze sculpture (100 N. Palm Canyon Drive) of a young lady sitting on a park bench next to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf shop. and across the street from the Palm Springs Art Museum. The lady is wearing old 1950 style clothing and she appears to be enjoying a day sitting in the sun. Unable to fathom who this statue was we asked other tourist for any information. We were told this statue was a memorial to Lucy Ricardo from the “I Love Lucy” television show. This life size statue was designed in 1995 by Emmanuil and Janet Snitkovsky. As a youngster I remember watching the “I Love Lucy” show and reruns as an Oldster. I remember Lucy Ball always being full of life and doing funny crazy things. After viewing this sculpture, I found nothing funny with this statue. This rendition of Lucy Ball does not reflect the true nature of that wonderful television star. Nor does it even look like her. The Snitkovsky created a nice statue, where one can sit next to the individual and have your pictures taken. Unfortunately, they miss the spirt of a remarkable talented Lucy Ball. Not worth the time and effort to locate this statue. Disappointing.

It's a bronze statue of Lucille Ball. It looks like... Lucille Ball and is made of bronze. Better than Cats, I'd see it again and again.
Honestly, somebody put some effort into it and it looks cool, but it's not going anywhere, (because bronze is heavy) so take a look when you're in town.

For us old timers, it is really cool to see this statue of Lucille Ball. It's actually on Tahquitz Canyon Road just east of Palm Canyon Drive. It is nice for selfies and is life size. We just wish there were more statues like this around Palm Springs given all the celebrities that are connected with Palm Springs.

We stayed in Palm Springs for two nights, and found that our Hotel was perfectly located to walk to many of the attractions. This was one of them. Luckily, the front desk told us exactly where to look, as it is easy to just pass by, and not really notice. It is right in the middle of the tourist area, near the corner. As we looked her over, we saw tourists just walk by. Later, we stopped in the Library, which is just about directly across the street, and heard people coming in and inquiring, "Where is Lucy?"
This lifelike bronze statue was sculpted in 1995 by a husband and wife team. To us, everything spoke Lucy, except her facial features, which somehow made her look snobby. Still, we enjoy looking at statues, and got a kick out of this one.

If you grew up with Lucy you cant miss getting a pic with her. I can imagine there are many young ones that even know who she is anymore....Also mind the seat beside her as in the sun it can get pretty warm when you sit with her.

Only recognizeable by hair and clothing. Does not do the red head justice. It is worth a quick look if you just happen to come across the Lady, but do not go out of your way.

It was great fun to see Lucy and get my picture taken with her! I was told this statue didn't look anything like her, but that's not true! I think it's quite good. Best to keep in the spirit of fun which Lucy definitely represented!

Don't think it resembles her at all! Barely recognizable as her, she deserves better characterization!
