We went to this great, largely undiscovered rose garden on Memorial Day weekend, and the roses were in full bloom with fragrance in full evidence. Also lots of prom dates getting photos taken, and so a lot more people than usual here. That also meant...More

So few people know about this place, it is a must for your "To Do" list. It is small and well cared for and should definitely be viewed in Spring or summer. Please note: Parking sucks!

Tucked away at the end of a small street in Oakland is a gorgeous rose oasis. It's quiet, dramatic, in a bowl shape. A perfect place for meditation, to meet with a friend for a sedate conversation, or just to wander alone amongst all the...More

We've been here twice in the last week with our flower-loving almost-four-year-old granddaughter, and we love to take a walk i this place, looking at all the various colors. Now is the time to go, for another little while.

Always a pleasure to visit this place. It smells divine here and it is so quiet. Great spot for yoga, meditation, reading a book or just admiring and smelling the roses. Love plucking the ripened black berries that grow wild. Making some jam or muffins...More

This place is much overlooked. It has been largely restored in a beautiful setting away from the crowds. Wonderful place to relax and see an Oakland that most people don't know about.

This is a hidden gem in Oakland right off of Lakeshore. The Rose garden has been there for decades and is well loved and nicely maintained. Perfect place for a leisurely stroll. Get out there and smell the roses!

Go when the roses are in bloom and it will be lovely. The maintenance is indeed not as it should be, but when the roses bloom, wow!

A short walk from our house, this free entry rose garden is really peaceful and pretty. Definitely could be better maintained but it's somehow a lovely spot to come and read a book or just be with your thoughts. It's very green and it's surrounded...More

We visit this park each year. It is best in early spring. The rains of the past spring have given the gardens lovely growth and beautiful abundant flowers. The biggest challenge to coming to this park is finding a place to park your car. There...More

Uber is available in Oakland, I use it quite frequently. Cars often around the Lake area, so you should be fine as far as speed to pickup -

I agree with the prior answer.. Though maybe less than a mile in each case. There are lots of restaurants and coffee places to entertain you the whole way...
