A one-lane unpaved road takes you to this bit of preserved history. We viewed from the road. I never knew that Japanese subs had attacked our mainland.

When you are visiting the Klamath River area, take the coastal drive (motor homes and trailers prohibited) to view what looks to be a set of farm structures that were really a radar facility for early warning during WWII. You can pull off the road...More

If you don't have someone from the military with you, you really don't understand what you're looking at. Nice scenery around the station though.

Off the beaten path, and not well-marked, is the WWII radar station that was disguised as a farmhouse and barn. There is only a small turnout and a historical marker to be seen from the road. But a short (2-minute) hike down a gravel trail...More

Wonderful that this historic place has been preserved. Would have been even more interesting if acces to builfdings and some equipment had been on display.

Looks liek a farm stashed on the side of the hill. I have never walked down to it on the trail but always stop to show it to travelers.

We followed the advice from the visitors center and stopped and walked down to see these WW II radar sites. It was nice to see a part of history.

Radar station built after attack on Pearl Harbor to monitor coastal activity, disguised as a farmhouse to avoid detection from sea or air. There is a small dirt path leading down hill to the radar station where you can walk around the building.
