During our far-too-short trip through the Stellenbosch area, this was BY FAR the most memorable wine estate we visited. Unlike many of the other (including more internationally renowned) estates, this is a place where they not only understand their grapes, terroir, and production techniques but also make a genuine and quite spectacular effort to show you some of the best that South Africa has to offer in terms of wine and hospitality. The modern, stylish but almost understated ambience of the wine-tasting room contrasts nicely with the aged splendour of the historical Cape Dutch manor house. The wines - both red and white - are excellent without exception (Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, the MCC and the Carlonet were our favourites). Personal, attentive and profoundly knowledgeable service, great food pairings at very reasonable prices, well-kept and beautiful grounds with a fantastic view, family-friendly infrastructure and generally welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

My son invited me for a picnic at this impressive estate. This was my first visit to the estate and I was very taken by the lovely Georgian homestead and the grounds. We sat under the trees and enjoyed a picnic lunch. The basket contained a good variety of food plus a bottle of wine and was elegantly presented. We were replete by the end of the relaxing meal.
The homestead itself has been partially restored and a few rooms are open for viewing. However, it is a pity that the rest of this gracious old house has not been attended to.
I was surprised that so few visitors were in evidence.

This is one of the best locations you’ll find in Stellenbosch. There are endless views of Table Mountain from here, which is perfect to sit and watch while you taste 5 decent wines.
Our server was extremely passionate and she knew her stuff. But the wines didn’t do it for us until we got to the Flagship red, the Cab Sav. That’s a genuine winner!
I’m certain we paid for the tasting and the wine we brought as well, which tends to be abnormal, but it was still a very competitive price.

We were the only people having a picnic on the lawns. Good food, great views and excellent service from Rudolph. The 2013 Uitkyk Carlonet is superb.....

With its rolling lawns and quiet atmosphere, this wine estate distinguishes itself from the usual commercially flavored bustle of more well known wine estates. Offering a good selection of easy drinking wines (good range across both red and white) and also a brandy and chocolate pairing for the brandy fans, this estate offers a bit of something for everyone.

We liked the chenin blanc here when we went for a tasting. They seat you in their tasting room and come with each wine giving you some information about it before the tasting. I think tastings are R30-50/person. We went here in the winter and boy was the wine tasting room cold. I don't believe they have heat in that room and this made the experience a bit uncomfortable. It was also a bit cloudy, so couldn't appreciate the full views, but we hear that the views from the tasting room are apparently gorgeous.

As part of wine tour we included this estate and sat outside with wonderful views while tasting the various wines. Staff friendly and informative also. And the wines were very good.

We had a great time with a well-sorted picnic basket, blanket and pillow under beautiful big trees. A beautiful view above the vineyards and a crowd of cows. Silent and relaxing enjoying the Chenin Blanc 2015
