I've hiked this trail at least a dozen times, and most other Eastern Sierra trails. The Little Lakes Valley Trail is the very best in terms of a combination of beauty and ease. It's great for folks who aren't big hikers. And it's great for...More

This high alpine hike is easy to moderate. Starts at over 10,000 feet so be in good health. Beautiful scenery. I went at the end of June to Chicken Foot Lake a 5 to 6 mile round trip. Wildflowers were stunning. Only one tough stream...More

Last time I came there was snow on the road and we couldn't park at Mosquito Flats and had to hike to even get to the trail. This time, mid-June, Mammoth Visitor Center said there was no snow. We arrived at the trailhead at 10:15am...More

We really enjoyed the tour. Once you got at mosquito flats, it is 4-5 hours to got to the chicken foot (or leg?) lake and back. We visited it on a weekday, and met with 10-15 people only so it wasn't crowded. It was absolutely...More

Our family of 6 did this hike two times. Once in August and once in October. The only thing i could find wrong with this hike is that it is very crowded on the weekends. If you dont mind lots of people on the trail...More

This must be one of the most beautiful Sierra hikes and certainly gives you a huge bang for your buck. The first half mile or so is steep as you climb over the basin brim, but most of it is cut rock steps--so it is...More

We were lucky to get a parking spot at the trailhead. We thoroughly enjoyed the views on the walk and the hike was very easy. We enjoyed scrambling to the top of the rocks near the lakes for magnificent views and photo ops.

We loved loved this trail! The trail starts with a little elevation and you climb up for the first few minutes (gets your heart pumping). The entire trail was awesome - we hiked till the Chicken foot lake about 3.5 miles in (just before the...More

The roads in the area are all very good. We don't have 4-wheel drive and it was very accessible.
