Lovely walk from Tongue although final bit was steep and rough underfoot. Well worth the scramble for fabulous view across the water.

In a country with an extraordinary amount of castles, the correct name for it should be “tower”, as it’s the remainder of a room with 4 tall walls. The ascent is steeper than expected, so we stopped quite a few times at the end. Nice...More

I parked where ask the guides said, could see the castle and path in the distance but could not find the start of it. There are no signs, no visitor center and no one willing to answer questions.

Very pleasant and easy walk to the ruins from village centre. The day we visited the weather and views were wonderful however would not be inviting if weather inclement.

This has recently been renovated with a viewing platform inside. A 15-20min walk from tongue and likely a busy spot in the height of tourist season this offers a good vantage point over the kyle and tongue. A pleasant walk back down.

Okay it's not much to look at, ( in fact it's only 4 decaying walls which seem to have had some preservation work done on them) but the location is stunning. The views are good. There's even a very impressive modern stairway inside which allows...More

From the Bank of Scotland, a lovely perfectly clear hike over to the castle. Gorgeous views from the castle! Worth the stop, for an approximately 45 minute walk/stop from the car park.

Not much of a structure is left, really just 4 walls, but the modern stairs takes you up for great views. Very nice at sunset.

Had a very relaxing walk with a good view. My wee one enjoyed it as it is not too far but not too near to where we are staying.

We were staying in Tongue for 2 nights while we did the North Coast 500 trip which we did by car. Personally I wouldn't make a special trip to see Castle Varrich because it is little more than a watchtower and I don't know... More
