There are 1000 steps up to the castle with beautiful views all around. You can also take a taxi up on a road in back of the castle. If you decide to go by way of stairs, go early in the morning when it is...More

For only 8 euros it is a great way of avoiding complete exhaustion as there are more steps and climbing once there. Brilliant views and interesting exploring.

My wife and I spent several hours cruising around this old fort. It is well preserved and the views of Napflio and the coast are phenomenal.

Do not be scared of the steps. I was terrified at first but climbed the 999 steps in about 25 min. The view from up there is absolutely worth it!

The Palamidi is actually a series of fortresses that exchanged hands multiple times between the Venetians and Ottomans. It played an key role in the region's history. It will help you understand the strategic significance of Nafplio

Plan to spend a while here exploring all the bastions. Just when you think you have seen everything, you turn a corner and there is more. If you are reasonably fit and the weather is not too hot, climb the stairs up and down. Make...More

You can walk up the 999 steps if you choose but the best way up is to take the hop on hop off tourist bus. The ticket is €8 and lasts all day. I don’t recommend you drive. Parking space is very limited. Entrance is...More

You can drive to the top where the castle itself is. Driving from center of Nafplion is about 10min. There are parking places but can get very crowded during popular days - times (i.e. Saturday - Sunday morning). From the... More
