Beautiful beach south of Rethymo. Beach with mixed sand and gravel. There are several places where you can get an umbrella and sun loungers. It costs between 10-15 euros maximum depending on where you are.
There are also several taverns where you can eat something

One of the nicest beaches of South Crete. Lots of free parking space and taverns nearby. The beach is not huge so it can feel crowded especially in August. The water is crystal clear and you can even reach the Mikro Ammoudi beach by swimming if it’s not too windy. You should definitely visit Damnoni if you’re around Plakias.

Nice clean beach and crystal clear water. This was the nicest beach we were on this week. Perfect excursion from Rethymno because you get to see the difference between northern and southern Crete. If there are high waves in Rethymno, there is probably fromshore wind in Plakias.

Tourist beach par excellence 🫨... Sunbeds / umbrella for the modest sum of 15€!!. Whether it's 1h or the day 😵 catch it c...!... Cannot negotiate..of the flight 😕😕... The taverns are good and friendly staff... at 3.5€ coffee we deserve this 😌👍... To do as a couple for fun, solo..not glop...not essential.. I will not go back..

Being less known than Matala or Falassarna, it is almost always a free beach, with umbrellas and sunbeds for 10€. We arrived and settled at the second factory on the left, eating in the bar of the same factory just across the street. Two sandwiches including a club sandwich with drinks less than 20€. Clean water, which goes down immediately with a lot of waves if there is wind. On the way to the beach (we came from heraklion) you can stop in the mountains to visit also Kourtaliotiko Gorge.

Simply this is a stunning remote beach away from all the riffraff of heavy populated beaches.

There are all the amenities you need, restaurants, bars but without the overcrowding.

The parasol with two sun loungers hire was only €6 for the day….. pretty cheap.

The beach sand/shells is a little course, but fine once you get use to it.

Sea is shallow going deeper as you go fitter out.

Water was cold but you body quickly gets use to it.

You do need a car or excursion to get to this wonderful beach.

On our trip we visited the central eastern part of the island.
One morning we went to this beach and I must say that it was never a better choice. Crystal clear sea umbrellas and deck chairs at reasonable prices and well spaced. To return definitely.

Beautiful sandy beach on the south west side of Crete with spectactularly clear water. Plenty of space, two sunbeds and an umbrella €6 which is unbelievably inexpensive for the Med beaches. Several restaurants and cafes across the road overlook the beach provide good food from snacks to very long, enjoyable lunches. Beautiful mountains surround the coastal area providing a picturesque surrounding. Ferry comes along g several times a day.

Big, quiet sandy beach! A little isolated, but if you like this, there are no problems! Some big rocks in the water, but you can be avoid. You can take the boat to Preveli from here. You will need a car to go in another places, because here........ you will be bored !
A place to spend yur holidays in quiet!

Beautiful beach, $15 usd for 2 chairs and umbrella. Server brings fresh apple slices. Delicious food and drink at tavernas along the beach road. Palm forest and hiking available to explore.
