I’ve visited this beach for many years, traditionally it has been ‘textile free’ and a more mature crowd. It seems that this year it has more families with young children an 80% in bathing costumes. The price of the sun beds has also increased sharply.
A bit of a pity as it is truly a wonderful place to be.

The car park is right next to the beach but the risk is that it fills up quickly as it is not huge.
The beach is very nice and the sand consists of small round stones that are 1-2 mm large. Some bathing shoes are not needed but can be nice to wear as it gets very hot to walk on the sand.
There is another smaller bay that you can either walk or swim to just the side of.

The beaches are not particularly large and if you have a sun lounger and parasol available for rent, you can not arrive late in the morning.
Most are naked but there were some who appreciated lying with their clothes on among all the naked people.
Shower and bar with light meals are available.

For our part, there will be more visits to this beach.

A beautiful little bay with a small 40 double beds with parasol. 10 euros for a whole day. There are also people along the rock faces and on the water. Basically a nude beach where nudity and textiles go very well together. On weekends the local people know how to find this beach and it is a bit busier. Super clear water where you can see the little fish swimming around your legs. Above the beach a small tavern which also brings drinks to the beds. Simple dishes are also served there.

We were going to stop at Ammoudi beach, but fortunately we decided to check Ammoudaki first. Fortunately! Charming and respectful integration of terraces and a fresh bar with the natural landscape of the cove. The beach is clean (small pebbles), showers and very low price for umbrella and 2 sun-beds. Amazingly clean and new toilettes. Courteous service. The sea? crystal clear, but it's Crete, so expected.

Ammoudaki, or Mikro Ammoudi, is by far our favorite beach in Crete.
The beach is situated between Damnoni and the bigger Ammoudi beach, with One Rock Beach just to the south.
We've been coming here for more then a decade, both as a couple, and as a family. there's no way we wouldn't come here.

It's a great vibe at the beach, relaxing, a good mix of tourists and locals, the taverna above the beach just keeps on expanding their menu, and the most important thing is that the beach is clothes optional.

The amount of textile visitors and naturist visitors are always changing, usually with a slight overweight of the naked.
The beach dont have the fine grained sand, so even with strong winds, you won't get stinged by sand.

Snorkling is also nice here, there's an underwater hole in the rock to the south.
High waves can occur if the wind blows straight towards the beach. These waves can be dangerous, so caution is necessary if this is the case when visiting.

There's about 40 parasols and 80+ sunbeds available for rent and there's space to put up your own.

Best nude beach in Crete. A proper taverna, nice, clean, no frills to get there. Steps down the hill. 6 euro for a beach set, no problem.

Ammoudi beach is 6 km from Plakias ; it is advisable to arrive by car as there are buses but the schedules are not frequent; it is a small beach protected from the northerly winds,with very clear water and almost white sand;the seabed is rocky and it is the best for those who practice snorkeling;on the left there is Ammoudaki famous for those who are practicing nudism; bathed by turquoise sea,one can swim freely in the marine caves;to the west there is a dirt road to Damnoni,a seaside resort protected by valleys and equipped with beach bars,umbrellas and toilets ;

This is just a nice beach to be at, even when the wind picks up, it is almost always possible to enjoy the day here. New this year is the toilets on top of the parking area, and this makes it even better. The small taverna has enough food and drinks to keep most people happy, and you can get sunbeds and shade too.
This is also a clothing optional beach and it's a good mix of singles, couples and families, and the bigger part of the visitors are naked
