A long and pleasant walk along the gorge through breathtaking scenery, past waterfalls, fountains, deserted chapels and monasteries, to an authentic palm beach at Preveli. You can even catch a glimpse of a lammergeier if you are lucky. Watch out...more

Highly recommend hiking down the stairs. We saw goats and a church as well. Keep going until you reach the water it’s worth it.

Exceptionally windy, not an easy drive in the gusting wind, but spectacular scenery and a sense of adventure all rolled into one.

Not as busy as some gorges and prettier. Some wild campers and a hippie commune. Expect nudity. 👍😁

A nice walk down to the little church and waterfall. If you are not fit don’t go down it could be a hell of a walk!

Kourtaliotis Gorge is worth a few stops if you happen to drive along. Impressive views all around. From one of the road viewpoints, 250 steps go down to the small church inside the gorge and to the waterfall.

We passed through on route to the beach on the south coast and simply had to stop. You cannot just drive through. It is quite stunning and the scale breathtaking. Worth a trip to this part of Crete and a short top off.

You can drive down Kourtaliotiko Gorge to Plakias and take a slightly different route and come back up Kotsifou canyon all in the one day. BOGOF tourism.
