Nothing says adventure like making your way to the Hennops Hiking Trail... This spot is home to the Caves of old, the most amazing scenic views and not to mention the huge hennops river that runs through parts of the trail.

I took this trail for the second time yesterday with our Hiking Club called Kagiso Hiking Club and wow what an epic time. 2km into the hike you meet up with a cave called Hospital cave and going down the cave is the most exciting part which I shall not reveal.

You then head to wards the suspension bridge to cross the river and let me tell you, you better have your cameras ready for this one... be careful not to drop anything in the river.

Taking the rest of the 11.5km I better warn you, its not for the faint hearted or even the fit ones. It is a hectic uphill but the downhill is hella fun... did I say fun? no no I meant hell... but finishing this hectic downhill one comes out completely victorious.

If you are with a team, no doubt you will get mad with each other as some want to take a break and others would rather get to the top and finish and going down is exactly the same... Kinda takes you back to those "Amazing Race" series with lovers and how agro they went on each other hahaha.

Rest assured you'll need to take it easy for 2 days thereafter. Im at work, on my heels but hell im avoiding stairs like crazy...
Have a BLAST !!!

One advise - don't go in summer when the sun is out by 7am, try going when its cloudy or overcast

Great for the whole family! If you just want a good hike with friends or family, Hennops Hiking trail is close to Johannesburg and easy to do! Just watch the rocks when you get off the "chair" across the river (don't know how else to describe it)...because it is easy to slip...

Had a fantastic day under the guidance of Michelle and Burnie. Met lovely like minded people and learnt so much about our vehicle and other useful tips about safety and off road. Definitely going to do the recovery course and join them on an off road tour.

One of the best hiking areas in the Magaliesberg region. Several trails range from a few kilometers to ten to nearly twenty if you do all the tracks.

Nice variety in elevation and fauna, with wildlife casually visible along some of the tracks. Some historic sites can be found, including a small cave and a mining oven.

Start early and pack water in a backpack. Both main trails move upwards and then downwards. There are pool and braai facilities. Snacks and water are sold at the gate.

We went to Hennops to cycle on the mtb track. The staff was friendly and helpful, the bathrooms were clean and the trails were well kept. All in all a great day out. Be sure to take your bathing suits and braai things to spend the day at the picnic area.

This off-road trail offers axle twisters, rocky climbs, dongas, a water whole, braai area, game to see and much more! 4x2's, high rider & diff-lock are welcome!
All the difficult obstacles do have a bypass.

The area is absolutely beautiful with some really great obstacles to tackle. If you are just starting out this is a great place to build up confidence. If you enjoy the thrill this is a great outing for the day. The water crossing is also great fun. There is ample picnic spots and braai areas to relax after doing a route with some friendly zebras who come by to visit.
