The Margaret Roberts Herbal centre is a haven for those are into their medicinal, edible and fragrant gardens. It's an amazing place to just walk around to absorb the sights and sounds of the gardens. Margaret herself also walks around and talks to visitors, which i find is a lovely touch.
The shop has a wide array of books and herbal products, all made from the farm's produce. The tea garden is an utter treat, also with all -organic food made from the farm goods. At the nursery you can buy a wide array of plants for eating, healing, scent and all sorts, at very affordable prices.
You definitely need several hours for a good wander around.
It is only open on Wednesdays, and selected Saturdays, so do check beforehand

Today, I took visitors to this Herbal Centre, which was extremely badly managed to include the shop assistant not being able to answer questions, the restaurant staff were totally disinterested in serving us, leaving us just standing at the counter. Manageress kept saying that she was coming & was more interested in loading ice. We were the only people at her counter. We also went down to the herb nursery which was sparse, not watered hence the few herbal items looking very tired. Eventually a lady came to us with the attitude that she could not be bothered to assist us. The late Margaret Roberts would have been horrified.

A couple of friends and I were so looking forward to visit this centre and buy some plants and have a nice healthy lunch but were quite honestly totally disappointed. It is situated in such a beautiful area but apart from that I do not have anything nice to say - our lunch was absolutely awful - tuna and asparagus quiche which could have swum off the plate and crisps with it as no more potato bake. No one noticed that none of us liked it as our plates were never cleared from the table. The plants and herbs were below expectations and did not look great so none of us bought any. Staff in the nursery area sparse and not very knowledgeable. I am sure the talks held here are fantastic and unless I went to listen to one of these I would definitely not return here.

Loved the experience . It was amazing to see the variety of herbs and I enjoyed seeing how they were grown in specific areas of 5he garden and that they can be integrated amongst your own garden and especially enjoyed the baking with herbs

It is such a beautiful place to spend a morning. They have a little shop, a small church and a labarinth that you can walk. There is also a fairy shop on site. We enjoyed the walk through the gardens. We had a light lunch which was very good with friendly service.

If you are interested in herbs, edible and medicinal plants you should allow yourself plenty of time.
The gardens were looking a little sad and neglected. I hope it was just becuase of the time of the year.

Spending a morning at the Margaret Roberts Herbal Centre is well worth the travel and effort to get there. The centre offers a herb garden/nursery, beautiful garden to walk in, a tea-room, a labyrinth, talks, and many more things to see.
