This get-away spot in the Magaliesburg Mountains is a great place to get away from city life for a few days. Set in the Magaliesburg mountains, , with Buffelspoort Dam in the distance, its a hiking/relaxing destination for those who want to explore the Eastern and Western pools, the Perdewater grotto, the interesting mushroom-shaped sandstone rock formations, proteas and rose... Camping sites fairly primitive and not far enough apart. Ablution facilities not too bad. Management took a long time too respond to a complaint about drunk and rowdy group. Nice walks for those so inclined

Security needs attention. One of our bicycles was stolen during the night (at least two other stands had the same experience). Roads not suitable for caravans. Avoid!

This guests child's bicycle was found so the comment is untrue. Our name is Mountain Sanctuary Park hence we are a sanctuary in the Mountain. The road to our rest camp is accessible by all vehicles but make sure your car can tow the NETT weight of your caravan. Regards, MSP More

We took a day trip to MSP out of Joburg on Easter Monday. Not sure what we were paying for: the map was a poor photocopy of a badly drawn map, and none of the trails were well marked. The area is as beautiful as the rest of the Magaliesburg escarpment, and the West Pools were nice, but nothing to... More

I absolutely love mountain sanctuary park. It would be a dream come true to own it :) Having said that, I often times "fly solo" I recently spoke to a friend of mine who told they'd been robbed while on their way back from the west pools. As a female, I no longer want to go there on my own.... More

The response about the mugging was grossly exaggerated: The mugging did happen at the eastern side of our reserve. The people were armed with one small pocket knife. One of the suspects was apprehended and we now have extra security in place over weekends. The safety of our guests is paramount to us-and we take this very serious. We all... More

Amazing for day trip or weekend. Not 2 busy and one has to book. Beautiful pool with lawn for kids to play on. Lovely trails to cycle or hike.

Good camping site to escape from the city. Mild hiking trails, streams, etc. Camping sites are spacious and the ablutions facilities are clean.

We went camping there the weekend of the 13th March. Was myself, my brother and my 9 year old nephew. Was very relaxing. Izak the manager is very strict and enforces the rules with a no nonsense attitude. The rules are the rules and they are there for a reason. If you want a relaxing quiet holiday in a beautiful... There are serious problems at this place regarding the attitude of the staff towards their guests. From the outset one is met by a surly warden and a swathe of "do nots", "dont's" and "you have been warned". Just to give an example, one evening my wife and I had taken a walk around the camp site to get our... More

The meaning of the word sanctuary implies a sacred place or a safe haven. Most of our guests come here to enjoy a beautiful environment and quiet evenings - they come here for our no noise policy. This group was asked 3 times by our guards and twice by the manager on duty to keep quiet to no avail. We... More
