We went camping at Mountain Sanctuary this weekend and was very disappointed. They have one ablution block that is supposed to service over 30 campsites. You cannot leave your campsite unattended as the baboons and monkeys are a nuisance and when i say that i am not over-exaggerating. One of the monkeys managed to enter our bakkie through a small... We went there with friends for a day visiting and really had an awesome day. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They gave us a (terrible) map (not detailed at all, actually useless, you will get lost for sure lol) and marked on the map a 45min walk (we had a 6 year old child). We left and went... More

We enjoyed 3 days hiking in this wonderful nature, we'd really like to come back. The cabin was clean, well equipped and with a wonderful view, staff was very friendly.

If you're looking for a rustic log cabin (or even just a place to pitch your tent) in a very special mountain range like the 2300 million year old Magaliesberg Mountain range, this is a special place. The rock pools at this park, which is just a two hour drive from Joburg are the main reason I went with my... More

So today the 28th of Nov me and some friend when to hike at MSP (mountain sanctuary park) and got a permit to go in to Tonquany it was a bit over cast but it was good weather for hiking and the guy at the office was very nice and welcoming made us feel very nice to be there and... More

We've camped twice at MSP and absolutely love it. The camp sites are clean and efficiently maintained, the ablution blocks are tidy and nicer than many I've seen, and the pool is an absolute dream. An oasis in the heat and dust. The pool bar also has one of the most honest staffers I've ever met, who found me to... More

We didn't stay at the Mountain Sanctuary but would next time. Had a great few hours with a walk/hike and a dip in the pool which is cold, but in such a beautiful setting you don't notice. Really loved the rapids; we knew there was a drought, but still very beautiful.

Make time to research the options for accomodation. We took the camping option and it will be easy for some to give a bad review if not prepaired. The camp site was neat and very well maintained. The hiking trails were excellent with the most beautiful nature sights in the area. Remember to take swimwear as you are easily tempted... More

Firstly. The map we were given was so badly printed that it was basically useless. We were told when we booked that there would be rock pools we could swim in but when we entered the park there were signs stating that they were experiencing a terrible drought? So there was no water in the rockpools at all. The man... More

It is a real pity that these two guests did not take some more time to explore our wonderful sanctuary only an hour and a half away from Johannesburg. We are experiencing a drought but did explain to the guests that lots of water can be found at our West pools and down the gorge - please see recent reviews... More

Tucked away, deep in the mountains of migelisburg, is this gem of a place. This site offers log cabins, rv camping areas, hiking trails to Pools and Rapids, picnic and bbq areas as well as a swimming pool with a breathtaking view. All well maintained and very clean. Just an hour and half from Joburg and you will feel like... More
