If you like cheese and casual hiking, this is a great place, not too from Joburg. Their walking/mountain bike trails partly follow along a river, with beautiful scenery. There are many kilometres of trails, so worth multiple visits.

Lovely setting. The views of the Magalies mountain is awesome. Must have the local cheese platter. Enough for three people. We only visited the restaurant and brought cheese at the shop and our experience was relaxed and pleasant.

Beautiful setting with lovely play area. The cheese platter, coffee, cheese cake and toasted sandwiches were OK but not worth the price. There was also no baby changing facility. Left feeling disappointed.

We visited Van Gaalen early on a friday morning. We walked the mountain trails and then had lunch from the menu. The view is great but service and food was just average.

What a lovely shop - with lots of nice 'goodies' to buy. Had some cheese tasting before we purchased good Goats Milk cheese.

Stunning al fresco dining or a picnic along the stream. Lots of space for the kids to run around, climb, enjoy the farm animals and a perfect place to enjoy the country air
