There are a few Scratch Patch branches in Cape Town but I understand this was the first. They have a cave of small precious stones and you pay to get a small bag and then can spend as long as you want choosing your precious stones. My kids adored this activity. There is also an opportunity to see how the stones are made from rough stones to precious smooth ones and to see how they are made into jewellery. There are multiple shops for crystals and precious stones for grown ups. We had such a great time that we didn't have time for the mini golf/cave golf that's also there. There's a café for the parents to sit whilst the kids deliberate over which stones to pick for their treasures.

A unique experience to see, touch, even walk-on some beautiful mineral stones.
And, what makes it even more unique, you can take some gems away with you. Just purchase a small bag, made for the purpose, and fill it with as many colorful gem stones as you can fit into it, and you can take it home with you.
I had never seen anything like this, absolutely a unique experience.
I do recommend to take your kids and, even your partner, because there are also a couple of incredible shops that sell stones but also other marvellous items.
If you are anywhere near the area, must go to visit !

A must visit for a small school group...tasty hotdog and chips prepared for 15 of us in no time at all by only one in the kitchen. Kids loved the really nice putt-putt course and the glowing balls they play with. Not expensive at all. Beautiful polished stones to collect as well. Much to buy from a small budget to really expensive rocks and stuff...something for all.

Arrived at 4:25pm to play cave golf. Travelled over 30 minutes from Muizenberg in the traffic and the rain with my little girl to play. We were refused entry as it’s an 18 hole course and we wouldn’t finish playing the course in 30 minutes. I was prepared to play as many holes as time permitted at the full fee - even if it turned out to be the last 5 holes for example. Only my little girl would have played. I hope you retain your tour bus customers as it’s clear you don’t value your local tourists. I would recommend playing at the Muizenberg putt putt rather.

If you like geology or gemology then this place will interest you. A wide range of finished products, but everyone enjoyed sifting through the scratch patch to find the stone’s they really liked. My wife bought a couple of stone bracelets and my daughter a salt stone lamp. Relatively well priced. Jewelry and semi precious cut and polished stones I found well priced.

I actually went to scratch patch MANNYY years ago when I was 6 and it is my most memorable memory from my childhood. I remember me and my brother both went and found a bit of amythest. When we put the 2 pieces together, we realised it was 2 halves of one stone. It was one of the BEST days of my life since when I was younger I was OBSESSED with crystals and gemstones and all that. I’m 16 now so it was 10 years ago. I would absolutely LOVE to go back there again and it would make my heart feel so warm. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going as a family is the BEST. 😁

Every time we go to Simon’s town, we scratch for a small bag of stones, we love it! We have quite a collection of stones already.

A very good place to take overseas visitors. Lovely, big showroom with beautiful stones for every taste and price. The Scratch Patch is fun for young and old and an exciting experience sorting out your own selection of stones.

Had a really enjoyable morning at the scratch patch. Rooting around looking at the different crystals and stones is always good but the new cave putt putt was fantastic and as a family we had lots of fun.
