Derek was a hilarious guide. His sarcasm brought many laughs to our group of 3 as we kayaked around Boulder Beach at sunset. The kayaks were safe and well-maintained, and the provided life preservers included some water for sipping. This was the perfect way for us to knock out sea kayaking and jackass penguins in one trip.

I have just moved to Cape Town and am "busy" exploring this fantastic city. This has definitely been a great experience and one I'll recommend - and hopefully even do again. Seeing False Bay from the water is such a unique perspective. We were lucky to see penguins just about to start their hunt. The day was perfect, water was... More

We were paddling in False Bay with Derek starting at 9 in the morning. The wind were 7 to 8 m/s from the northwest. I was paddling the first time in the open sea under quite rough conditions, but had an experineced kayaker wit me in the kayak. We paddled for about 2 hours first against the wind than back... More

My husband and I booked this adventure online and it was flawless. Derek showed up right when he said he would, was fun to be around, got us situated in our kayak, and safely guided us to the special South African penguins and back again. Thankfully we had a fairly calm day as, at age 65, the paddling was a... More

Ed and I met Derek, Kayak Cape Town, in Simonstown at 9:00 a.m., and drove to the launch site. We kayaked down the eastern side of the Cape around Cape Point. The trip took about 4+ hours; the weather was perfect; the swells were 4-5 meters; and we saw whales, seals, penguins, a flock of Cape Gannets, and other sea... More

We had long decided to see the penguins and thought what better way to do it that from the water. We got the train from Cape Town to Simon' Town and that in itself is a recommended activity, great views along the coast and only 28 Rand return. Upon arriving at Simon's Town, we walked 10min to the jetty to... More

We loved this experience. Derek was great and we had a lot of fun although it was windy. We got very close to the penguins. It was a beautiful setting and we got a great workout coming back against the wind. I definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys activities and the cutest little penguins!

The entire experience was wonderful! We were able to kayak at our leisure, check out the seals and the penguins and joke around with Derek in the process. We lived in Cape Town for several months, and this was one of our favorite experiences! It's great for everyone!

The experience and service were great! They usually do the tours in the morning since there are more penguins but we weren't able to go in the morning so went at 2PM . We took the train from Cape Town to Simmonstown(8.5 Rand). From the train station turn left and walk down to the water front.it was under 10 min... More
