Great group of people to deal with – from text/email communication to the team that took us on our trip. I couldn’t fault the booking process etc – really responsive to questions and I also accidentally made 2 bookings and it didn’t take long at all for them to notice and repay me. I am not sure how many people take the time to read it but the information booklet you get sent the day before the trip is really interesting. The actual trip was brilliant too of course! We didn’t see great whites but knew we wouldn’t. We had a fabulous time and would recommend Apex to anyone thinking of doing a shark diving trip in Cape Town.

Such an amazing day out! Ryan was our captain, and him and the crew were very kind and informative. We first drove out to seal island where we saw 100s of seals and a few penguins. I found it amazing being able to see them up close. We then headed back in towards the coast to set up for the cage diving. My partner and I were in the first group so we got suited in the wetsuits provided by the crew and then after about 29 minutes got in the cage. The crew were great at letting us know where to look to get the best view of the sharks and we saw a few 7-gills as well as what looked like 3 different copper whalers! It was all very impressive. 10/10 would recommend going with this charter and would visit again if ever back in the Cape.

What an amazing experience this trip was. Tania was great to help organise things on the weeks leading up to the trip. On the day of Sabrina met us with a smile along with Lunga, Ryan & Bongani. Getting out to see was a great boat ride too. Once we got to the spot, & started the dive, the full team worked well to show us the sharks, make us feel safe & explained all the different sharks we saw. We also saw seals & penguins. Apex crew is the best! I’d definitely go with them again.

We were blown away by the whole experience. It was incredible and very moving. The guides with us on the day were super knowledgeable. I really liked that at the end they also spoke a little to shark finning and raising awareness of this issue. Overall the organisation was great, the fact that you make sure all guests get the same number of “views” I thought was really smart. The masks are excellent! And the cage felt really safe. The fact that it is only a small number of us on the boat also means we get plenty of time in the water with these incredible animals.

The most amazing experience of our lives. So expertly organised and incredible to be so close to the sharks yet feel completely safe. The crew were amazing at making you feel welcome and shared great insight to the wildlife. Would definitely recommend to anyone and everyone as it was literally one of the most memorable day trips ever and a memory that we will cherish forever. Thanks so much Alex Shark Expedition

Our recent shark cage diving trip with Apex Shark Expeditions in Cape Town was an incredible experience that we will never forget. It was exciting to see the 10+ foot bronze whalers as we descended into the water, and we were left in awe of the magnificent marine predators. My 12 year old son Canyon mustered up the courage to drop into the cage!
Of course this site is made famous by the Great White Sharks breaching at False Bay and saw Seal Island with its 70,000 seals, however two killer whales showed up and scared away the great white sharks,
We enjoyed seeing a pod of 50+ dolphins adding an unexpected twist to an already unforgettable adventure.
Our guide, Alex, was knowledgeable and passionate about marine conservation, which made the experience all the more meaningful and educational. The professionalism and attention to detail provided by Apex Shark Expeditions were exceptional.

We had a great day getting the boat to deal Island to cage dive. Being greater by 1000’s of playful seals and seal pups was a huge added bonus! We got 2 turns each in the cage, with 4 in at once, great that you can share the experience with others. We had a 7 gill shark appear and I was less than 1 foot away, eye to eye underwater. An incredible experience. We also saw 4 copper sharks, the crew were as excited as us at the unusual spectacle. Would highly recommend. 20 min walk to boulder beach from the dive centre too.

I was wowed and amazed by how helpful the staff at Apex were. I booked the kelp forest snorkelling dive and the guide was so knowledgeable about all of the various fish, nudibranch, octopus and other species that we encountered. Had such a brilliant dive! When we got back to shore there was a towel, snacks and a hot shower from a bucket, but luxury nonetheless!
When I got back Apex also organized me a ride back to where I was staying in Cape Town!
So incredibly helpful and friendly!

We had an excellent trip out with Apex. We were extremely lucky to have seen a pod of around 700 dolphins, a sight which is indescribable. We also got to see some gorgeous Bronze Whaler Sharks. Thanks Apex we had a great trip, only wish we had slightly better visibility which can’t be helped and some more time with the sharks. If I had one constructive comment to make, it would be to perhaps allow both groups (we were split into 2) to have a shorter amount of time at first, then go back in once everyone has had chance to experience the sharks. I felt group one had a much better viewing opportunity, with the sharks being more engaged and active around the cage.

Thank you for the great review and constructive feedback. The skipper usually operates the cage rotation in this manner however we can't control the shark behavior once a group is in the cage. Generally, though the bronze whaler sharks come in numbers, and like staying around the cage and the boat for the duration of the trip. The best sharks to cage dive with!

Fantastic experience from start to finish! Our driver, Sam, was very knowledgeable and friendly, sharing lots of stories of Cape Town as we made the trip to Simons town! The whole crew for the shark diving experience were extremely friendly and helpful and made the experience one to remember (the snacks and drinks provided on board we very welcomed after the diving also!!). Tania was our contact on WhatsApp prior to booking this trip and she was very responsive and helpful which was also very much appreciated ☺️

There have been no Great White sightings in either location.
False Bay, Cape Town has been diving with Sevengill sharks and Gansbaai has been diving with Copper sharks. Both sharks are powerful, formidable predators and are both very interactive around the boat allowing excellent cage diving opportunities. Come cage dive with these predators.

We have booked a holiday in early February to Cape Town and I would love to seeGreat whites close up. Your company has been recommended but I understand Orca’s have scared the sharks away. Cani ask do you know if they will return by February?

Historically, the better chances to see them are Feb/Mar/April to September but who knows? They are wild animals and might show up anytime!

I would leave the 10th open. This will give the bad weather a chance to clear and hopefully we will have space If this experience is very important for you, it may be best to book 2 x trips to be sure you get to sea and see.

The wind can blow in September so best to book your trip early on in your stay in Cape Town so we can reschedule if we need to cancel due to weather.
Sightings are usually good and we will supply all equipment necessary.

Hi There
We do offer scuba to guests who are scuba certified however the best way to view the sharks is to listen to the communication from the bait handler as to when to go underwater and what direction the shark is coming in from. The best way to do this is on snorkel or breath hold.
