Tours and Tickets by Apex Shark Expeditions
Overview
Get up close with the ocean’s apex predator on a signature Cape Town experience: shark cage diving. With a maximum of 12 divers per boat and five divers per cage, this is one of South Africa’s most intimate shark cage experiences. Look for blue sharks, mako sharks, sevengill sharks, and, of course, the notorious great white sharks at Seal Island or Cape Point. Certified divers can use scuba on request.

Review of: Shark Cage Diving Cape Town
APEX IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Listen, great whites aren’t around Southern Africa much anymore sadly, but if you still want an amazing experience then you HAVE TO book with Apex. We went out on a day when the weather was turning badly but Captain Ryan had us on the very active Bronze Whaler Sharks quickly. The crew was amazing and helped my young children (8 and 10) get fully ready with wetsuits. They took pictures and get us excited as we watched the first set of people in the cage get shark after shark coming to them. Honestly, visibility wasn’t the best but Ryan and the crew drew the sharks in right up to the cage that it didn’t matter. My kids did get cold and had to stop after 5 minutes but the crew got them out of the cage, out of their gear and warming up while I still got a little more cage time. As a dad I always worry about my kids and felt they were always looked after. All in all, seal island, active sharks, and great people make Apex the best! Oh, and I didn’t even mention how amazing Karyn and Tania are. They were in contact with me for months and even did a last second date change for our trip due to weather. I owe them a lot!…

Review of: Shark Cage Diving Cape Town
We had 7 sharks around the boat at one time. The mates worked so hard to get them coming towards us, and we could not have been happier. I am a diver and have swam with sharks in open waters so I was not sure if I’d enjoy being in the cage, but it was great to have the sharks chummed in so close and have them banging up hard against the cage trying to get to the bait. It made it incredibly exciting.…

Thank you for the review. We certainly do not condone the sharks banging up against the cage. It goes against everything we as a company stand for. It can happen in low water visibility however it is to be avoided at all costs.

Review of: Great White Shark Cage Diving Mosselbay
I could not say better things about this. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We saw 3 great whites who all circled the boat at the same time while in the cage. As we were leaving, a fourth showed up. The sharks were amazing. Would do this again in a heartbeat. Thank you for the wonderful experience…

White Shark Cage Diving from Mossel Bay! Organized through Apex Shark and the wonderfully helpful Karyn Cooper, I set out with 9 others from Mossel Bay with the White Shark Africa team. An initial visit to Seal Island resulted in lots of excited anticipation and seal pod action and two distant shark jumps, but no close visits from these wild and unpredictable fish. After moving twenty minutes, re-setting our slick, and the crew working the hand-baits like champions - BAM! A very large White (3-1/3 meters was the estimate, and it looked all of that) the cage and divers went in and we were blown away by multiple, very close visits from four different Whites, with a fifth coming to the boat while we were lifting the cage to end the day. Having some experience volunteering with Atlantic Shark Institute out of Rhode Island in the US, I know that one day you can be surrounded by non-stop action, and the next day can yield zero, but the success rate for seeing Great White Sharks with this team is outstanding, and they showed why. There is so much misunderstanding about these wonderful fish - come see for yourself, first-hand, close up, and on their home turf. VERY safe, it will be a bucket list memory you'll never regret or forget! Thank you Apex Shark and White Shark Africa!…
