What a beautiful statue & story.

The actual grave, high up on the mountain above Simons Town is maintained by former naval graduates of HMS Ganges in Suffolk, UK.

Fitting statue for a legend
May 2021
Love his statue and the history that surrounds him. The statue is beautifully done in honour of this very special dog. What a story! It is so worth stopping to see him but also do yourself a favour and read up about this wonderful animal. The vendors around the area are a bit annoying but a firm 'no' seems to make them back away.

What a story if you arent bombarded by salesmen
Nov 2020
The Just Nuisance story is incredible, unfortunately you cant really explore the detailed history without a host of people sellign their wares, from beaded items, to African curios to fresh fruit, you really have to learn to say 'NO' it does break from the overall enjoyment at the time as these sellers are very in your face.

A happy little stop
Feb 2020
This pert little statue of Just Nuisance, the wartime dog who loved a pint, is a worthwhile place to pause in the harbour-facing park in Simon's Town. Not a major attraction for sure, but worth a photo and a smile.

We parked here to walk the street shops of Simons town. It's a quaint area and worth the stop! "I love waffles" is highly recommended but SHARE a dessert. Postoffice on bottom of two story building here to drop off a postcard to home.

"Just Nuisance: Much More Than Just A Dog"- in Simon's Town you will find a sculpture of him!!
Apr 2019
This Grand Danois is still widely know over Africa and other parts of the world. The life of this dog was very special - and yes, there is a lovely story about this dog.
He, Just Nuisance became the first and only canine Royal Navy member in history!
What was the reason? - Well, you have to google it - and you will find a lovely story, why this dog ,in 1939, only two years old enjoyed the Royal Navy for the rest of his live.

- Simon’s Town has a rich naval history, which stretches back more than two hundred years. Although now home to the South African Navy, in those days the Naval Base fell under the command of the British rule and the Royal Navy and was the largest naval base on the entire African continent.

Lovely story

The history of Just Nuisance is lovely. Well worth going the extra mile to travel to his actual burial site. It's on the Red Hill road and you branch off to go to the site. A great honor to a great dog.
