In the city center the church building is very attractive and impressive. Interior of the church is made of yellow wood , a must see when in Chile / Castro. When we visited on Sunday the prayer meeting was going on and many people were...More

The outer colour is yellow and purple and the inside is all made by wood. Its really impressive and you hardly see such a delicate wooden architecture. A place you will find it's uniqueness and find peace.

This church is one of the Chiloe Jesuit churches and the biggest that we saw. It is fascinating because absolutely everything inside, including all the statues, is made of wood. The outside is covered in metal and painted yellow and purple. Definitely worth a visit

I would say it’s number 1 tourism attraction as there is almost nothing in the city. Church is impressive.

It was the unusual paint choice of purple and yellow on the outside which attracted us in. The interior is all wooden and there is a small exhibition showing some of the amazing history of the building.

This is one of the many UNESCO churches on Isla Chiloe, and by far the most beautiful of the ones we saw. The wood work on the inside is amazing, done by true craftsmen. I hope the town can keep this wonderful part of their...More

So many historical churches to take in while you are in Chiloe, and this one is a Can't Miss. Stunning to think of the effort to build/maintain over the centuries.

Simple in design and made almost entirely of wood. The carving and carpentry work are a delight. The high windows flood the congregation space with light.

I saw several lovely, quaint blue churches in rural Chiloe. The tour guide from Chiloe Natural said it was the color of the sea that influenced the church colors. The Church of Castro is the center piece of the town Square. You can’t and shouldn’t...More
