Easily accessible from Gori and if you stay in Gori a visit to Uplistsikhe, the Stalin Museum and Gori Fortress can make the visit worthwhile and a bit diverse.

Very interesting site, once the center of Georgia. Also great views of the river and mountains. Can be quite hot in the summer and alsoa steep walk on rocky paths, so come prpared with water and good shoes.

Yes and to be safe hire a local driver to take you from the NP Center where you pay the entrance fee to where you begin the walk. The road is very uneven and rocky.

You'll be fine wearing your sneakers. Be ready for a bit of wind and sun, however.
