Great place to roam around and discover new foods and specialties. Very popular during national holidays. A lot of novelty small shops opened recently that appeal to younger crowds. Note that it becomes free to enter past 9 pm and would offer interesting deserted feel at midnight.

I had visited here with a local guide -- beautiful area with lots of cultural intricacies that my Chinese local guide explained to me. Albeit, compared with other attractions, it is quite small. There are some paid areas that you could also access, but I decided not to go.

Check out some of their stores where you can dress up and take pictures looking like authentic Chinese characters.

When we arrived in this city we didn't think we had enough time here as it is so beautiful. There is so much history here and so much to do. We visited two temples and the ancient city wall, that is a lovely night life here as well with lots of shops and lots of places to visit in the evening. Two days is not enough. We did have a bad experience when we visited the massage place. One day we had a foot and a pedicure which was amazing and very cheap so we decided to visit the massage place again the following day and have a back massage, although at the time the back massage was invigorating the next day all three of us had huge bruises all on our backs!!! Do not get the back massage!!

Not sure why tripadvisor ever bother reviewing such aweful place, it is not even a proper place to walk around and hang out. Awfully dirty, full of uncivilized local citizens that makes the place extremely tourist unfriendly.
Don't visit this place as it will totally change your view (to worse) about china.

Lots of lovely buildings to look at here at some beautiful gardens. Our guide told us lots of stories and explanations about how the people lived here and it was all amazing
