We (2 friends)had an amazing trip to Tanzania where we climbed the Mt. Meru (not easy), did 3 days mountainbiking in Kilimanjaro area and spent a few days with the Masai near Lake natron. It was al perfectly organized by Tanzania Journies which we can highly recommend !! The guides (Abu and Joseph) and our cook (Salim) were all very professional. They took really good care of us and they know everything about the area, vegetation, wildlife, tribe culture, etc. And of course all perfectly supervised by Seema, owner of Tanzania Journies.

Seema from Tanzania Journeys planned and arranged a fabulous holiday Safari and Beach holiday in Tanzania/Zanzibar. She patiently listensed to our requests and offered suitable recommendations and suggestions. We visited Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro, Seronara, Northern Serengeti and Zanzibar. It was indeed a lot of driving on uneven roads but our Safari experience was top class! We saw lots of game and the migration of wildebeest. Kudos to Aggrey, our polite, kind and superb Safari guide. He was fabulous and enriched our Safari experience with his wealth of knowledge on wildlife. All the Lemala properties we stayed in were beautiful- recommended by Seema. Once in a lifetime experience for us.

Planning a trip of a lifetime to Africa and entrusting your trip to someone is a big deal. I chose Tanzania Journeys after learning they were the organization that REI used for their treks up Mount Kilimanjaro. I had several interactions with the owner, Seema, both via email amd WhatsApp. She was attentive and helped create the experience I wanted. Her team on the ground in Moshi were flawless. From the airport, to the mountain, to the safari, it was great! My guide, Rashid, on the mountain was knowledgeable and he helped me summit on the Lemosho route. Roma, the safari guide was also knowledgeable and helped us have an unforgettable journey. I would go again with Tanzania Journeys and love that they are truly interested in helping preserve the beauty of Tanzania.

We had a such an incredible 3-day safari experience with Tanzania Journeys. Our itinerary (which we would 100% recommend) was:
- Day 1: Arusha pickup 9am, drive to Tarangire (2h30), 2 hour Tarangire game drive (saw elephant, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, wildebeest, impala, eland, warthog, marabou stork and lots of other birds), lunch at Tarangire safari lodge (awesome view!), 4h evening Tarangire game drive till past sunset (saw loads more including a leopard), stayed at Tarangire safari lodge (luxury double tent)
- Day 2: Sunrise view from tent, breakfast at the lodge, 8am depart for 4h Tarangire game drive (saw a pride of lions and loads of other animals), depart Tarangire 12pm, drive to a tasty local Maasai lunch at Mto Wa Mbu. Afternoon 5km walk at elephant cave with local guide, saw cool waterfall (no option for swimming) - enjoyed stretching the legs (though missable if short on time). Drive to Ngorongoro crater, amazing views from the rim, drive to Embalakai Ngorongoro camp - proper wild and wonderful, luxury tents and very warm welcome from local Maasai staff.
- Day 3: 6am depart Embalakai for the crater, sunrise views, golden hour viewing in crater was incredible and had 6h in crater before leaving at 1pm. Saw lots of lions, hyenas, jackals, vultures, buffalo, zebra, elephant, 2 rhinos, flamingoes, hippos, lots of birds and many more! Even saw 2 lions mating and a pack of hyenas enjoying a zebra for breakfast! 6h drive back to Moshi with stop offs including for pictures of Kilimanjaro!
Seema was very helpful and flexible in organising our bespoke honeymoon safari. Aggrey was the ideal safari guide and we had a lot of fun with him - he was so knowledgeable, personable and entertaining. He really enhanced our safari experience and tailored it to our wishes. He has eyes like a hawk and could pick out rare animals from afar! We managed to see an incredible amount on our 3 day safari including all the Big 5 and even all the ‘Ugly 5’!
Tarangire was amazing with beautiful Baobab landscapes and loads of animals, including some lions and leopards, and from what we’ve heard it is much less busy than Serengeti (and closer!). The view from Tarangire safari lodge was breathtaking and it was very comfortable. Get up for sunrise!
Ngorongoro is an absolute wonder. Would recommend as early a start as possible as the golden light is just heavenly after sunrise. We wore 3-4 layers which was just right as it gets chilly and very windy on the viewing deck. The variety and sheer volume of animals here is worth every penny. The landscape is stunning and if you can try to get plenty of viewing time from the crater rim before/after animal viewing.
We would really recommend Tanzania Journeys to anyone!

Just got back from a two week trip fully organized by Tanzania Journeys. Thanks to the amazing guidance and preparation by owner Seema Shah and her experienced team of guides, our family summited Mt. Kilimanjaro (Lemosho Route) and then flew to Zanzibar for a four day beach vacation at beautiful Shooting Star Lodge. It's hard to say enough about Tanzania Journeys--we had a complicated arrival (people coming from three different locations), varied ages (21-59) and many, many questions before we got there. Seema was very accommodating, helped us find a trip that fit our budget and schedule, and helped arrange a few special additions (including two days at the beautiful ecolodge, Kilimanjaro Coffee Plantation). The equipment was all topnotch, much of it from REI, which used to partner with Tanzania Journeys back when they were doing international trips. We felt very safe during our entire climb, as they constantly monitored our health, and helped us have a terrific experience. It was the trip of a lifetime and we have Tanzania Journeys to thank! Highly recommend.

We booked our honeymoon to Tanzania via Tanzania journeys and we could not be happier about our experience. Everything was as we wanted it to be: experience with the locals, environmentally friendly hotels, great experienced guides. Thank you Abu and Rashid for our awesome Kilimandjaro experience and a thousand thanks to Rama for the amazing safaris. Finally, thanks to Seema for being patient with our delays and available when we had questions and requests. We can’t wait to come back!

Great trip one of the best, especially because of Tanzania Journeys! Had the most amazing guide who made our trip one to remember (Aggrey) and everything from the lodges to the safari was amazing! 10/10 and definitely recommend!!

Double review for Kili Climb followed by a 5-day safari. Both excellent and I highly recommend TJ for either and both. Very responsive small (but very capable) local operator which I booked through Adventure Life. Can't say enough about the office and field staff, who made the two trips unique and memorable. They were very knowledgeable and optimistic about Tanzania's culture and people - and consummately professional and skilled at their jobs.
Ed.: If climbing, please use a KPAP-member company to ensure your support team are treated fairly. The Tanzania Journeys team stood out from other teams we encountered for having better equipped staff and seemed better led (and happier!).
Climb: Super-responsible KPAP-member company. Our guides Kibacha and Asseno were both amazing: very safe, professional, and fun. Great leadership of the team and support for us. Porters and team were great, cheerful, and seemed well taken care of. Lemosho route is stunning and more scenic than other routes. Team helped us enjoy the journey and not make it just about summiting (which we did successfully). Great value w reasonable pricing without compromising quality.
Safari (Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro): Shoulder season is the way to go to avoid crowds! Aggrey was a wonderful guide. Very safe, knowledgeable, energetic, and engaging. He was uncanny in his ability to find wildlife and we often had sightings initially to ourselves (though he freely shared with other guides via radio). Safari logistics were flawless with great stays and full days with not a moment wasted. Explorations were balanced and not just focused on chasing Big 5 all day. We always seemed to be at the right place at the right time for unique experiences. Tarangire is a lesser known park but what a gem!

Superb organization with excellent logistics and personable guides/porters. Rafael handled drive to the park from the hotel, along with great history enthusiast "Agri." Pre-hike briefing very professional, to include pack-out inspection. The lead guide, Kibacha was outstanding, very medically knowledgeable in conducting twice daily pulse/oxygen and general health assessments to avoid altitude sickness.
Assistant guide Asenio lead the trek, often singing to ensure great morale. Lead guide Kibacha following behind us is a former porter and displayed outstanding leadership to the camp - 2 kitchen staff along with 10 porters to get the gear between 7 camps over 8 days of the trek. These all became dear friends, welcoming us back from the summit with singing, and they all encourage by name.
A six-hour ascent on a full-moon, starlit night was magical. Next thing we knew we were at the top for a beautiful sunrise. Hiking another hour to the peak for the pictures and a celebratory tea. Wonderful looking into a dormant volcano ash crater and the back side of glaciers.
Camps are abuzz with comradery with other groups from around the world. Great food and comfortable tents; latrines just like the military/scouts. The descent is no joke, loose rock scree has your attention not to fall and harder than climbing.
This company good to their porters as well as clients -first class all the way!

We had a great experience with Tanzania Journeys in our Kilimanjaro one day hike. Our guide, Kimbacha, was very knowledgeable and made sure we were enjoying every single minute of the hike. Hiking Kilimanjaro and discovering the different ecosystems and wildlife was a once in a lifetime experience and Tanzania Journeys was the perfect choice to make it happen.
Overall, excellent experience.
