This was right next to our hotel, Butiama Beach, so was convenient for a walk or stroll. The status of the tide makes a huge different on what you see!

Biggest mistake of our trip. The cost to stay in the park isn't cheap. If the money was used to protect the park no problem but not sure what they do with the money. Don't know why its considered a marine park. The locals still...More

This is a great place to go diving - but you have to time it for high tide, or visibility will be bad. We did not see any sharks, but plenty of rays, octopuses, fish and small stuff, like leaf fish, nudibranches, sea horses, pipe...More

We only stayed in the area as long as we really wanted to dive because of the high costs of the marine park. We heard from a dive guide that the income here is also used to finance other marine parks in Tanzania, that are...More

I visited Mafia Marine National Park in November 2017. There is a conservation entry fee of USD $20 per day which is put towards the continued conservation of the marine park. I went snorkelling with a scuba group to 2 sites and the coral and...More

Amazing snorkeling experiences where you can find many different species of fishes, turtles and much more. Nice walk on Chole Island if you want to know more about th Arab time, see the village and the famous "Bats"that dominate the island from the trees.
