After over 4 months of no Great Whites in the bay… Today was our lucky day. We finally saw a Great White!! The boat crew and office lady where very friendly and professional. If you don’t get to see a great white, you even get a free voucher to go again within a year. Absolutely amazing day, would recommend 10/10. Thank you White Shark Africa!

I agree with Georgina’s review from Jan 23. We booked a trip during our recent holiday to South Africa and hadn’t understood the issues relating to recent shark activity following the Orca attack in June (this was our fault - we hadn’t done any research). Our issue was not with shark sightings but with the overall experience as mentioned by others below. We didn’t need breakfast, coffee etc but it was mentioned on the booking and wasn’t offered to us. The crew didn’t acknowledge us when they arrived at the office until they told us it was time to go (15 mins or so). We passed whales, dolphins and seals on the way out and back but no one told us anything about them or even attempted to educate us about what was going on with the sharks and their decline. It’s not a cheap trip and we know shark sightings aren’t guaranteed but it seemed like a wasted opportunity to educate people about what is going on and what can be done to help.
We went on other trips during our stay (e.g. whale and seal watching) and the difference in attitude was significant, with lots of education about marine issues and what we can all do to improve the situation. I’m sure the company needs to keep going and the team need to work; maybe they could adapt a little to ensure longevity. In its current format I wouldn’t recommend this trip.

I was so looking forward to this activity we had booked it weeks before. We turned up early to the event, they wanted your money straight away. You paid your money wait around for 15 minutes or so. and then just before you leave they give you a speech, that we haven’t seen a shark since June 18th.
We walked down to the port got on the boat and drove 20 mins to a bay, anchored up there for 4 hours, we sat around and had a cheap bag of crisps and a bottle of water. To then be driven back.

We were told- after we had paid- that sharks had not been spotted for two months due to orca activity. Surprise, surprise, we failed to see any sharks! Although we did see whales up close as well as lots of seals, there were no sharks. While you can't predict that you will be able to see wildlife, if you haven't seen any shark activity for 2 months, the trip should be cancelled. This is the worst kind of tourist trap and I feel cheated. Be very careful about booking this, or any shark cage diving activity.

Before you book I would definitely ask when was the last time they saw a shark. Currently they haven’t seen a shark since June 18, our excursion was July 26, we didn’t find this out till the day of the excursion unfortunately. Also clarify them about vouchers or refunds if you see no shark, currently there is neither. Of course the initial booking they tell you though nothing is guaranteed but we never found out the full truth about the ORCA whale attack on June 18 that has scared the great while sharks away, I sort of feel like they kept this from us and we would have chosen not to spend the money if we had all the information available. Unfortunately it is our fault for not asking all the right questions. The “snacks on board consisted of just bags of chips and apples and bananas. We were out in the water for 4 hours literally just waiting, so bring entertainment for yourself, there is none on board.

Very accommodating and knowledgeable crew aboard the boat and back at the office. Knew loads about the sharks and explained everything that they did and why down to the baiting and chum for the Sharks and how they attract the sharks to us.
Got a good close up of a couple of White Sharks from inside the cage too! Quality trip really recommend

First of all we didn't see a shark, however we crossed the people returning from the morning boat that same day and they did see one and said it was awesome.
The staff insisted that it doesn't matter what time of day you go, it doesn't influence your chances of seeing a shark as their activity does not differ throughout the day....however across many other websites, they frequently acknowledged that early morning is the best time to dive as this is when sharks are most active....and perhaps this was an indication to expect the following.
Our review is not based on the fact that we did not see a shark as we were expecting not to and understand that there are no guarantees with wild animals.
First of all the website states that we would receive:
- breakfast while chatting to us before departure
- light lunch on the boat
- Upon return to the dock, we offer afternoon tea and hand out the certificate of the day to all our guests
None of the above was provided! One may call this false advertising.
In addition, we were disappointed with the general attitude of staff on the boat who barely acknowledged us for the whole trip. On the way to the site, one of the staff members was asleep with a t-shirt over his face whilst the other two were on their phones.
Throughout the 2 hours that we waited for a possible shark, although two crew were chumming frequently, they remained on their phones and there was no enthusiasm to teach us about marine wildlife or the sharks.
We noticed empty plastic bottles and chocolate bar wrappers across the deck of the boat from staff which at one point were blown into the water with a complete lack of concern from staff that this was littering the ocean. There was just a general sense that they didn't care. They didn't attempt to get to know us, provide conversation or entertainment whilst we waited.
I would have been very happy if I'd had left (although not seeing a shark) feeling that I had learnt a lot. My partner, who had done a dive with a different company 3 years previously stated that this was a whole world of difference from his previous experience and was extremely disappointing.
With regards to the sightings themselves, I think it would also help manage expectations if the company were transparent about how rare the sightings are becoming. They could even explain why, and how humans may be responsible for this - take the opportunity to educate tourists!

Firstly I did see and dive with a shark
The boat crew and captain were first class and did all they could to get us one
I did get in a cage with a great white amazing and stunning beautiful animal
I have seen lot of negative reviews which I understand having been to other places in SA to see great whites and not
It’s very disappointing but as humans we play a massive part in this
As someone who has dived for some 40 plus years and studied sharks for all my life as an amateur we have to accept that sharks and Great White are being pushed to extinction through humans and the way we live.
Over fishing
Netting
Shark fin soup
Pollution
There is no surprise that it’s getting harder and harder to find these amazing animals we are killing them off
Then there is the issue since 2018 orca coming in and learning a way of killing then for their livers
The company should be more transparent and provide numbers and sightings week by week
But it’s a fact the greats whites are in trouble in the area
We are supporting by going out with these company’s
I had a great trip thanks

I'm not an unreasonable man - I understand that we are dealing with wild animals here and that nothing is guaranteed, so, I'm at peace with the fact that my wife and I tried and failed to dive with sharks on this occasion. What I'm not ok with is sketchy and unethical business practices.
Here is what is written on the website right now:
- Have breakfast while chatting to us and a safety briefing
- Light lunch, snacks and refreshments on the boat
- Diving & Viewing
- Afternoon tea on return to shore
- Certificate of your White Shark Experience
In the briefing (not before), we learned that there is only a 50% chance we will see a shark. There was no breakfast. There was no 'light lunch'. There was no 'afternoon tea'. There was no shark. Afterwards, the captain informed us that there was only ONE shark seen in the bay in the previous two weeks before our trip, and the shark in question was young, shy, and 5 feet long.
Now, here's the bit that got me - I contacted the company to very politely describe my experience, explain that it didn't align with what was advertised and ask for a 50% refund, as the promise wasn't even partially fulfilled. 23 days later I received a response which was filled with dismissive, disrespectful language, showed a complete lack of business etiquette and refused to acknowledge the poor overall customer experience. Below are (in full) the final too emails I received from the company OWNER:
"OK. I'm busy. Sorry but I don't have the time to quibble so go to an aquarium."
"And do not lecture me on communication. I am a professional speaker, a professor who has lectured at Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge, London and Stockholm universities. And the Royal Geographic Society. So put your big boy pants on and stick to zoos and aquariums."
P.s I must put a note here to say that the captain and staff on the day were top class - they did everything they could, but I feel they knew they were fighting a losing battle to deliver the experience the group had paid for.

When you go on a trip like this, you always have the risk of not spotting any sharks. But it's really disappointing if they hardly do anything to make this possible. When they told us, almost 4 hours later, that they didn't spot any sharks for the last 6 weeks we felt like we have been fooled. But the worst thing is, that they promised to send us a voucher that would be valid for life. Not interesting for ourselves, but maybe we could make someone else happy with this voucher so we gave them our email-adres. Two months and multiple emails (without any response) later we still didn't receive any voucher. Really disappointing, not because we think we would ever use the voucher, but because we believe in keeping your promises.
Budget wise the most expensive activity of our holiday but also the biggest disappointment.

Good morning
Is March a good month for shark sightings?
Have there been any Great White sightings recently?
Do you get a full refund if cancelled due to bad weather?
Do you get a full refund if no shark sightings?
Thank you Tracy

Obrigada!
The website isn't working for booking. Anyone knows if the shark cave diving is still working?
