My self and my wife booked tandem skydives on our trip to South Africa and could not rate this company highly enough. Due to the changing weather our skydives were bought forward a day giving us clear blue skies to land on the beach. All the staff we met were friendly, professional and relaxed which makes the whole experience so much better. We will of course book when we return next year.

4 of us were travelling together from Iceland and did the tandem dive. We were incredibly happy with the jump. The instructors were all friendly and professional and the videos from the trip were also amazing. I never felt unsafe at anypoint and wouldnt hesitate to do this again!

Skydiving in Mosselbay was a great experience! I was a bit afraid beforehand but everyone there was super nice, relaxed and professional, so eventually I was not afraid anymore at all. I am so happy I made it.
I felt super safe there and I would want to do it again every time. I did not stop smiling for days afterward.
For everyone doubting? Just do it, you won't regret it!

This was my second tandem skydive and I'm really glad I chose Mossel Bay. I chose the 12000ft jump with extreme manoeuvres including video and photos which cost 3675 in total including a 5% credit card fee.
The experience itself was amazing and much better than my previous dive due to a combination of the cheerful and expert instruction by Arenhold which included telling me about the gear, about the area as we climber to the jump height as well as a couple of interviews on the climb up for the video.
The plane is a Cessner 182 and diving from the smaller plane made things much more exciting than last time; I also got to watch two experienced divers jump before me which was great watching them disappear into the void.
We did some extreme moves during the parachute section which were great and I helped to land us on the ground. Where I was presented with my DVD of photos and video which were of good quality from the dual gopros.
I heartily recommend.

For most people skydiving is one of those things you do once or twice in your life. It's not something you do on a regular basis so you really want to go with a company that make it an awesome and memorable experience. Even after booking a set time we waited for nearly 2 hours to finally do the sky dive. There was not even a glass of water offered to us while we waited. The instructor seemed like he was just going through the motions. Camera equipment didn't work properly so wasn't able to get photo's that I had paid for. Ended up in an ugly argument with the very rude owner because he didn't want to refund the money for the photo's I didn't get. The whole experience was really just disappointing. There are many places to skydive in South Africa. I would suggest picking another if you want a memorable experience.

Dear Tania,
You were part of a tour group, one of many we accommodated on 31 Aug 2014. There were 6 people in your party who had a booking slot at 14h00. Your tour guide arrived ahead of time which might have added to a short wait but the first two of your group’s flight departed at 14h45, pretty much on time considering the admin process, briefing and kitting up for the skydive. Your flight (you were the last of your group to jump) departed at 16h15, spot on time. (if you were 2 hours late as you claimed it would have been close to sunset and we would have cancelled to due safety)
We have a bar/kitchen area with a water fountain, a fridge with cold water and a basin with a cold water tap (perfectly clean and suitable for drinking) and glasses stacked next to it. Everyone else helped themselves. I’m posting a sign there first thing tomorrow to assure everyone – water is for free.
During your skydive we used two cameras to film your jump.
1. A Sony CX150 HD video camera – used for the video footage of your jump
2. A GOPRO Hero 2 camera to take a still photograph every 1 second.
Sadly, the GOPRO (used for the still photographs) failed. We have no idea why this happened. Your instructor operated the camera correctly. Electronic devices are at the mercy of their manufacturers and the software programmers who write their software.
We clearly state in our agreement that we cannot guarantee our camera equipment to always function 100%. The prime objective during a tandem skydive is the safety of the student (you). The glamour stuff, video and photos, have a second priority. You read and signed this agreement.
When we landed with you, and we realized the problem with the camera, we:
1. Explained the situation to you
2. Offered to make still photographs from the video (yes, not at the same resolution, but at a discounted price and really the best we could do)
3. You still had a perfect video of your jump.
4. When you complained about this, I (the rude business owner) offered to you to refund you in full for both the video and photo footage, an offer which you then quickly declined and mumbled that you've had such a bad day, you’ll just take what you can get and get “out of here”.
5. You seemed perfectly happy with our service and the performance of your instructor until your demands to get your video for free were not met.
Tania, while Skydive Mossel Bay values constructive criticism on Tripadvisor and makes an effort to improve our service based on the remarks from our customers, I feel your comments are meant to defame Skydive Mossel Bay because your did not get your way with us. I think we offered you a fair compromise.
Nevertheless, I am sorry that you did not walk away from us with the same satisfaction as your 5 tour mates and I hope you get to do your skydive elsewhere where those elusive photos will be a success.
Thank you and best regards,
Henk van Wyk – Owner and Operator – Skydive Mossel Bay

Made a reservation two months before arrival, which was confirmed by Henk, the owner. Sent emails to confirm that we were all set about two weeks before we were to arrive with no response. Finally, in response to the third email I sent on the day of the skydive imploring them to let us know if all was ok, I got a "plane is temporarily down, sorry" and no more.
Skydiving is a fun sport, but when managers running a place don't know how to run it makes the experience unpleasant.

Dear Sasha,
I’m so sorry to hear of your misfortune when trying to book with us. I eventually found your email messages, neatly deposited into my junk mail folder! I’m very sorry about this.
I can only guess that since we did not hear from you on the day before your appointment, we did not notify you about our aircraft being out of service and were not prepared for you. Nevertheless, it is our mistake and please accept my sincerest apologies.
If the opportunity arises to visit us again, please join us for a complimentary tandem skydive.
Blue Skies

July2014. Granny & Grand daughter. My 60 th birthday and Sammy's 16th birthday! What a wonderful birthday gift from my great hubby! Absolutely the most astonishing thing I have ever done ! Highly recommended ! By far the hugest adrenalin rush ! 10,000 ft above the most spectacular coastline imaginable ! And then the roll out , into space , free falling and then float like bird , silence! Awesome ! The Admin staff is friendly helpful and professional. I had the pleasure to Tandem dive with Olga, she is caring , considerate and an excellent instructor. Thank you Olga for making my first skydive experience a beautiful memory to treasure . The Video that Olga takes is great! Mossel Bay is totally breathtakingly beautiful from the air. Sammy , tandem jumped with Arenhold Hooper, he was amazing. Very professional, experienced and a fun guy. He put Sammy at easy and made her first sky dive a great one. We cant stop smiling!

The booking was fast and hassel free.Safety is of highest importance, your harness is checked more than once. We were made to feel at ease. And the view up there is just price-less. The video and pictures they take are of high quality. Had so much fun. You can pay cash or via EFT. And the instructors are very cool, they make you laugh so hard that you even forget that youll be jumping out of the plane at 10000 feet. Will be back, thank you sky dive mossel bay.

This was truely one of the most fantastic experiences of my life. I was terrified, as it was my first ever jump, but my tandem instructor, Arenhold, gave me so much convidence, straight from the start. He's a big tough guy, the moment you see him you know you're in good hands. But still, 10.000 ft is quite a distance to drop down from. But the instructors do a great job explaining about the sport. Rather than giving you the one time thrill of your life, they are more like ambassadors for their sport and try to get inspired to get you to start doing it yourself. Which I think is great! Once up high, just before we jumped, Arenhold once more explained exactly what we were doing, how we would get out and in which ways we were buckled up so the moment we got out of that plane, I felt truely safe. Though it was one hell of a nervewrecking experience, but so awesome. Happy I did it. There were some minor details they could improve. One of them is communication. I was scheduled for 13:00 but didn't get to jump before 16:00 so I kinda had to wait there for a long time. Later on, I was told it was because of Mussel Bay flight control orders. But they could have communicated that with me, so I wouldn't have to wait that long as there was so much else I'd love to have done meantime in Mussel Bay. Also the reception of new guests could be better. It took a while for somebody to welcome us. Other than that once I met Arenhold, I had a fantastic time and he spiced up the ride and that really made this worth 5*. Oh yeah, it took quite a while to get the videos's and photo's (like a week). That could be an improvement too. Or bring an USB or flashcard, 'cause they will copy it straight away! What's cool though is that the video is completely edited. A little over the top and too long in my opinion though and a lot of branding in it. Would be cool to just have some raw video material too. Other than that, once more, great job. Thanks for the great day.

Hey, we are heading to Mossel Bay from Stellenbosch on the 24th of March. Is it a good time of the year for skydiving? What time do you suggest for me to schedule for the best view / pictures? Should I book in your website?
Thank you very much

Hi. I wanted to know whih slot is best suited if someone plans to stay put at Knysna or Mossel Bay. Secondly i plan to do the skydive on Sept 26 2017 tentatively. How would the weather be at this time of the year. with regards to photography which time is suited the best for skydive..Early morning/Afternoon/Early evening. How much time before the booked slot should a person come in advance to the airfield ...?
Written 10 September 2017
Hi Abhi,
Knysna is around 1 hour driving time from Skydive Mossel Bay and if you stay in Mossel Bay town, it will take you approximately 15 minutes to reach us.
The weather this time of the year is generally very good with the early mornings or later afternoons probably the best time to skydive and get your video/ photos done due to more favorable light angles.
When you book, you will get an arrival time at the airfield as opposed to a slot time, so just go with that. Please confirm your booking with Monica using our booking email or telephone number.
Hope to meet you soon!

Hi, I'm planing to do skydiving next winter, so is that a good time for diving?
Other question
Can I bring my own camera ( GoPro )?
Written 20 April 2017
Hi Abdulla,
Mossel Bay has the 2nd most moderate climate in the world (Hawaii beats us with a small percentage!)
This means we have skydiving all year and any month of the year is good. The northern hemisphere winter is of course our summer time in South Africa and particularly the months of January, February and March are excellent for skydiving.
But really, any time is good!
The use of your own GOPRO can be discussed, but there are safety issues we need to consider.
Looking forward to hearing from you again and booking your skydive with us.
Regards
Henk van Wyk

Hi,
I'm travelling in July. I plan to do sky diving on 11th July.
I had a couple of questions:-
What is the cost including the video?
Is it recommended to do advance booking? I'll be staying at Knysna so in which slot should i book?
Will July be a good time i.e. will the season be favourable?
Written 25 March 2017
Dear Harsh,
The cost of a tandem skydive from 10,000ft, inclusive of a video, photos, and a nifty certificate of your jump is R3000 per person.
It is a good idea to book with us in advance. The easiest way to book is to use our online booking system or to send us and email with your requirements.
If you are traveling from Knysna, a slot around 10:00 or 11:00 should be best for you.
July is a great time for tandem skydiving in Mossel Bay.

1.do they allow spectacle?
2.what sort of fitness is needed?
3.54 yr old personhavind sedentary life style can do it?
Written 16 October 2016
Hi Chetannp,
I apologise for this late reply.
1. You may wear spectacles as long as they are able to fit under our large style protective skydive goggles.
2.You dont have to be very fit, but should have resonble strenght and mobility. If you can jog for a short 20 meters you should be fine. You should also be able to lift your knees up towards you chest during the landing phase of the jump.
3. We have people of 90 years old doing tandem skydiving! You should be fine!
