My experience getting my open water certification was excellent. My instructor Elton Polly was very professional and extremely fun at the same time. If I return to South Africa I will absolutely be asking to dive with him again.

I got my diving certification while visiting South Africa. Elton is a cool guy and an awesome instructor. He will work with you in the hours you're available. He also likes to crack jokes and help calm you before your dives. I would definitely recommend diving with Elton and his company.

The summary of my experience is this: inexpensive, quick, and so enjoyable. My dive instructor “Elton Polly” made the certification process all the better. He genuinely cares about your safety and you being comfortable in the water. I was Naui certified in just 3 days. I had waited a year in order to get my SCUBA in South Africa (I’m from the United States) because it was also reasonably priced. It’s about $750+ where I’m from, but in Elton’s program I paid just over $300. Being certified has also opened so many opportunities for me in the marine science community. A much needed skill and experience to use in research, exploring, and as well as leisure. I highly recommend getting certified by Elton if you visit Mosselbay.

I have been diving in various locations but the Ultimate Shark Adventures team is by far the best I have worked with. They are very professional and will always put in the extra effort to make the clients happy. I have had many dives guided through the years but Elton is by far the best I have worked with. I do a few trips with them each year, most of which are to Durban (Aliwal Shoal) diving with Aliwal Dive Centre. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who has a passion for diving and enjoys both reef and shark dives. The best trip I have done to date with Ultimate Shark Adventures was a trip that started in Mossel Bay and ended in Zavora, Mozambique. The trip started off with a cage dive with Great White Sharks followed by diving with some pyjama sharks in Mossel Bay. After the dives we started our journey to the Aliwal Shoal. We got to Aliwal Dive Centre and did 2 shark dives there with oceanic black tip sharks and 2 reef dives with ragged-toothed sharks. I have been diving in many locations and I have not been as blown away as i was while diving there. Our next stop was Sodwana Bay to dive with Reefteach. We managed to do 6 dives while we were there. All the dives were very memorable, and at all times the team made me feel very welcome and comfortable. So after spending a few days in Sodwana bay we headed off to Zavora (Mozambique). As we headed up we split the trip to a stop over in Swaziland close to the Mozambique border so it was quick to get through the next morning early and we could get a dive in on the day too. We arrived at Zavora Lodge- and what a lovely place all the staff also very helpful- so we stayed there and did a few dives, one wreck and few reef dives. On the second day there we headed up a bit north to Tofo. Diving with Tofo scuba we did a sea safari to look for Whale sharks (sadly did not see a whale shark, though was worth the trip for sure). We stopped at the Aliwal Shoal again on the way back to Mossel Bay and did one last dive there to end our epic dive trip. If there is anyone that has love for diving and the ocean, I would definitely recommend Ultimate Shark Adventures as a company to work through. Just like to end this by thanking Elton and the team for making all of these trips such memorable experiences for me.

I had been waiting to get scub certified for awhile but couldn’t find the right company to go with. I am so happy that I waited and got certified with Elton. He’s such an amazing dive instructor and works with you according to how comfortable you are in the water. He’s very thorough in explaining things and makes you feel super relaxed for your first dives. He definitely wants the best for his clients. He also teaches an amazing shark diver course that you can take along with your open water certification. He really knows a lot about shark anatomy and covers all the bases on how to safely dive and interact with sharks. In his course he discusses shark conservation which is a total bonus to the course. Everything about it felt personalized and educational. If you already have your open water, Elton also teaches an advanced open water course so you are in luck. I’m even planning on taking my advanced course with Elton next time I visit Mossel Bay. I went on some of the most amazing dives and I highly recommend diving with Elton to anyone who is in search of a dive instructor.
