Our visit with the Juan Boucher show 27 December 2022 with family and friends was extremely disappointing. The owner after we asked him why people downstairs
roof smoking, telling us he is a lawyer and he allows people to smoke anywhere on his premises and if we are not satisfied we can either sit on the grass and get back the R50 extra we paid or our stuff take and walk. He can't serve coffee to his guests because he doesn't turn on his coffee machine for 500 people. The food on the menue was nowhere in sight and the show that was supposed to start at 8 o'clock had already run out of pizzas for 6 o'clock. And the singer didn't arrive until after 9 in the evening... sang 7 songs with an interruption of half an hour and at a quarter past 10 it was all over. Dry burgers that tasted like cloves were a waste of money. After we left there we had to stop at the Engen garage for something to eat to fill our hungry stomachs. Stay away if you don't want to starve. Waste our time and money.

Had an amazing experience with the family on a Sunday afternoon lunch.
Their new 'no frozen food' policy meant that the hake was sublime, fresh and flakey.
Our waitress Demi R took great care of us and made us feel very welcome.
We will definitely be back.

We had the opportunity to visit this excellent establishment for wine tasting and scrumptious meal. The chef went over and beyond her duty to ensure our taste pallets were treated to an amazing experience. Corne gave an excellent wine tasting experience with vast knowledge of the farm.
Thank you Willem and Heidi for an unforgettable experience.
The Sauvignon Blanc is highly recommended.

A large group of us stopped here to break up a journey. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to do the wine tasting so we ordered a bottle red, white and sparkling. I predominantly drank the white Sauvignon Blanc which was a little bit dull. Those who drank the red said it was ok but didn’t really enthuse about it. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the venue was just as you would expect a winery to be, very wooden and dark but atmospheric. The outdoor views of the surrounding countryside were picturesque. It was quite pleasant here but nothing more than that especially having visited far superior vineyards in Stellenbosch and Franshoek. I did chuckle at the toilet sign!

I made a booking for Sunday lunch today with the famous reed Valley today, always thought, a professional chef was on duty.
After I made a complaint to the chef about the quality of fish I received, for the catch of the day, I came to the conclusion that the service for the day could have been not to the normal standard. The chef was not the one to complain to as she was surely not qualified to take the complain.
I then complained to the owner, or who was interduce to me as the owner.
This was the worst response I received from a restaurant with regard to complaining about the food quality I received.
I am not sure this place could be taken seriously as a restaurant, it must be a bar or watering hole, as I was told "by the owner to be or what ever he is called" that I am not welcome to visit them again. Thank You young man I have no intention to visit you ever again, Mossel Bay have very good restaurants I do intend to visit often. Good luck with your attitude to criticism.

Reponse from owner:
We take note of your review and wish to respond as follow: We confirm that our General manager requested you to leave. Unfortunately, that is about the only true statement in your review. My daughter Michelle de Jager is the executive chef of the Succulent restaurant. She however gave birth to our grandchild on the 22’nd of December 2022 and is currently on maternity leave until middle March. Her highly trained sous chef Pretty has been filling her shoes and was the lady that tried to communicate with you yesterday. Your complaint was not levelled at the quality…but at the quantity of fish. Evidence was that all the plates were returned empty. You only started an incident after receiving the bill for payment..when you loudly complained that the fish portion was too small. An issue which we would have easily resolved. You were swearing at my general manager with foul language and you made a racist comment saying: “ kry daai ding hier weg” referring to Pretty…..translated meaning: “get that thing away from me” She was in tears and had to be consoled. This was the last straw for my General Manager…and he did ask you to leave. After interviewing all the staff on the incident…I wish to respond as follow: You are the very first patron ever that we have asked to leave…in more than a decade of doing business. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the actions of my staff and I stand by them. Sir, I am certainly going to hold you to your promise never to visit us again.

Lovely venue a stone's throw from the N2 en-route to Mossel Bay. Stopped off for lunch at the Succulent restaurant there which has a nursery as well and had the Wagyu beef burger which was super tasty with Brie. Our host/waiter Viaan was very hospitable and gave good tips on their wine selection. This venue was an unexpected delight. Well done!

We visited Reedvalley today for the second time, and after a previous pleasant experience a few years ago, we were very disappointed.
We made a reservation at The Succulent, but due to a miscommunication (apparently) on their part, we were told that they did not have a table. It was visibly not very busy. We understand that people make reservations for later - but still. We did as well? We drove all the way from Boggoms Bay, so we decided just to do a wine tasting. Disaster!
We had to taste the last bit of wine, left over from yesterday. Both the Espumante and Espumante Rosa, were flat. After a query, we were told it is because they are not allowed to through the wine away and we were drinking what was left from yesterday. Sorry! Maybe if they were more generous with the tasting, that would not happen.
We ordered a cheese platter, and they got the order wrong. We had to go and ask for knives to cut the cheese with, as well as for the balsamic vinegar and olive oil, which, according to the menu, is served with the platter. We were served brie instead of blue cheese, and when I went to ask for what we ordered, a person named Jade who I assumed was the manager (as he was the person who told us that we made no reservation - which we did), was extremely rude.
He told me to ask our waiter for the vinegar and olive oil (we had no waiter, only the young lady who had to do everyone's tastings). And he told me to bring back the cheese that was wrong myself. No apologies. Terrible, rude attitude. We were later told that a chef experienced a break up and things were a bit rough in the kitchen. We would have understood, but it definitely does not make the rude attitude more acceptable.
This is not how you treat customers. After telling everyone how great Reedvalley is, I will definitely not return.

My mom and I visited in March and it was such a lovely experience! Beautiful place, stunning food. Monique was very knowledgeable and so sweet and the wine was absolutely delicious! We ordered 6 bottles online as we are in Jhb and it ws delivered free of charge within 5 days. Brilliant wine, brilliant service! I will definitely be back with my husband and kids when in the area again. 😊

We had an amazing experience at Reed Valley. The tasting was excellent, the food at succulent restaurant was excellent and our experience was made even better by our waitress Emily. Thank you all for a lovely time. We can't wait to return!

We came wine tasting only and were told there is no space for us to eat. (Although less then half full when we got through to our tasting)
We were told we could choose between 2 wine tasting options, but once seated and looking at the menu, we could see more options.
The waiter brought the wines for tasting in a plastic crate. Placed the wines in front of us and basically told us the name of the wine and left us. No paper, no explanation, no accompanying palate cleanser.
The wine tasted as bland as the experience.
They seemed happier to see us leave than when we arrived.
