We organised a day mokoro trip in the Okavango Delta with Mosu Tours, and were deeply unimpressed by the way they behaved.
The trip was $280 for two adults plus $91 for a child (ie not cheap) and on the itinerary we'd paid for, it said we'd be collected from our hotel in Maun at 7.30am and that we'd arrive at the mokoro station at 8.15am. We were then promised a full morning's mokoro trip, followed by a walking safari, lunch and an afternoon's mokoro trip, arriving back at our hotel at 5pm.
The night before, a representative from Mosu Tours came to say that instead, after collection the next morning, we'd be driving NINETY MINUTES to collect other guests before heading to the mokoro station - which would have meant over 2 hours in a jeep instead of 45 minutes. When we refused, the Mosu representative practically begged us to go ahead with the change of plan as though we were being really difficult. We refused. They were clearly just trying to save money on having to use two jeeps / drivers, which was completely unacceptable on a tour at this price.
The trip itself was then still cut short from the itinerary we'd been sent. After MUCH hanging around at the mokoro station, we had about 90 mins on the water, then a one-hour walking safari on the island, then a terrible lunch (dry, cold pasta), followed by a hasty 45 mins moroko trip back where it was clear the poler just wanted to get back home. We were back at our hotel well before 4pm.
We had been so looking forward to our mokoro trip in the Okavango Delta, but Mosu Tours really spoilt it with it being so rushed, and the attempts to change plans at the last minute.
It's clearly a wonderful trip to do, and there plenty of tour operators in Maun and around the region offering mokoro day trips in the Delta - I would strongly recommend you use one of those instead.
