Historical

Ahu Nau Nau is located near Anakena Beach in Easter Island. Anakena beach has two ahus(platforms), Ahu-Ature has a single moai and Ahu Nao-Nao has seven, two of which have deteriorated. The surroundings are extremely picturesque. Would certainly very highly recommend visiting this place with a local guide to get a better perception of history.

Ahu Nau Nau
Jul 2019
The Ahu Nau Nau is located 150 meters inland from the shore of Anakena beach. It is believed that here is the birthplace of the history and culture of Easter Island. This site has incredible views of the ocean. Ahu Nau Nau is the most elaborate and best preserved platform of the three that were built in Anakena. For a long time they laid buried in the sand on the beach, which allowed them to be more protected from erosion than the others. Restoration work started in 1978 and they were restored to their ancient splendor; making them the most beautiful archaeological site on the Island. A popular stop off on the island tours.

Beautiful Anakena Bay
Mar 2020
This is one of the recommended stops on the island. It does not disappoint. Check out the beautiful moláis standing guard a bit further back from the beach! Relax on the beach or take a swim! An excellent spot to snorkel and a very safe place to swim! If you get hungry drag yourself up to one of the restaurants. The food and drinks are good here and the scenery can’t be beat!

Moais at the beach!
Feb 2020
Moai + beach, a real good sum. You can explore the archeologycal site and then have a nice bath at the sea in a very beautiful place. Go with more than the one hour that tourism agencies offer when Anakena is included in a full day tour. And please, be careful while walking around the Moai. I've seen an awful scene of a couple who got scolded by the local security because they entered the protected area of the ahu. They said it was an accident, so I thought it would be nice to leave the tip here: people of Rapa Nui Island take very good care of their treasures, and they won't let anyone disrespect the boards in which one can clearly read "stop!". Not only security staff will do this job, but any Rapa Nui.

Besides a beautiful beach you get Moai in good condition with a gorgeous background.
Also some ruins, explore the area a lot to see.
Watch out for falling coconuts!

very quiet at sunrise
Sep 2019
Basically everyone goes to Ahu Tongariki for sunrise so this one is a little bit quiet until 9.30am.
The moai are great and it's one of the only places around that offers a restroom and a restaurant (although chices are limited)

The only Moai on a beach
Feb 2019
The Moai are on Anakena beach- the only beach on the island. The restored four have the top hats. They are right at the edge of the beach.

Only Moai by the beach
Aug 2019
Located on Anakena beach, the Ahu is not only popular for its location but also due to the fact that four out of five standing moai have their topknots resting precariously on their heads. And it is the only Moai that is by the beach.

Cannot get very close

This is another site where the access barrier has been moved well beyond what any rational concern for relic preservation could justify. Might as well take a snapshot with your phone, because you can't really capture the majesty of these statues from that distance.
