We took a half day trio to this small glacier, close to Lago del Desierto. Just 45 minutes walk uphill and you are in front of a small, superblue lagoon and the glacier.
Very good tour on a lazy day, and when the weather is...More
Glaciar Huemul has an amazing view! Its gorgeous!
We paid 200 pesos each as entrance fee. The tracking is inside a forest. Very pretty and nice. Just close to the end the tracking gets harder, with more climb, but there are ropes to grab.
What's not to like!! After a 37 km plus (scenery) minus (slow going) drive on a gravel road, you can take a great hike up to Humeul Lake and Glaciar. The hike is a bit steep at times, but short and through beautiful woods with...More
Visiting this place might feel a little strange at first as we did not know that there would be a fee to do the hike. The whole transaction was done inside a kitchen with an Argentinean grandma who does not speak English (she was making...More
El Chalten is a walking town, that's no news. There are so many jewels hidden in the woods, that a single journey sometimes is not enough. So, I strongly recommend this one. The beauty of this place will knock you off. First you have to...More
We paid the US$20 not really expecting to get our moneys worth but it had been recommended so we went. A good hours drive from El Chalten and the gravel road is not great. A wander through the most magical forest I have ever seen,...More
Glaciar Huemul is over 1 hr drive from El Chalten, on a private property. If you do not have a car, book a spot on a daily van from Las Lengas (at bus terminal or arranged by hotel front desk).
It's a nice hike on...More
Because this glacier is on private land you have to pay 200 pesos per person plus 10 pesos if you use their toilets (which were clean and stocked with paper). If you've never gotten close to a glacier this is a good option, especially since...More
There are couple nice hikes to the Glacier after a slow bumpy ride on a gravel road full of potholes. One can drive or take a shuttle bus there but hitchhiking is another option since there is a fair amount of traffic on this road.The...More

Hi Geoff, was there in March so the other end of the good season. I assume because November is the beginning and March is the end it will have similar weather. The days were varied but between 5c and 15c some sun but still cold in the forests as you trek up to the Glacier. Cant see where you are from but we layered and adjusted as we climbed and got warmer and put it all back on when we got to the Glacier :).
Not Europe cold but certainly Australian cold.

Buena suerte.!!!
