All tourist apparently gets a free guided tour of the shrine and you can get information on the history of the place, of Islam - the Shia and Sunni differences as well. As muslims, we found it interesting as well.

at the entrance, we needed to deposit big camera at the kiosk outside this building, waiting for our english speaking persian girl tourguide to lead us in to that sacred place.it's tgursday afternoon where the muslin come to pay respect to their revered imam brothers....More

As a non-Muslim it was possible to go into the complex but not into the actual shrine. Women have to be completely covered. Visitors had to be accompanied by a guide. Sounds like a lot of hassles, but such a beautiful place to visit that...More

The complex is huge and have several building. Tourist must be accompanied by in house guide (free), not only to tell every story behind the magnificent decoration details, but also to guide tourist which room can be entered and photograph or not, either to all...More
