Worth the effort
Jun 2021
We were only in Ullapool 3 days so visited the Tourist Information office and asked for maps of walks, the walk up Ullapool Hill was suggested as it allows fantastic views of the surrounding area including Ullapool town.
The map shows several walk options so we chose the longest to the highest point and was well worth it. Some paths are stony and narrow but worth the effort for a good workout.
Spotted a home built into the hillside which could easily be missed if you don't look around as you walk, only the meadow roof with a couple of roof vents were visible but they obviously had great views from their windows.
Enjoyed the walk.

Great view

Great view of the town and surrounding Loch and hills. Walk is on a path but gets steep and rugged near the top.

Wonderful views
Nov 2020
We loved doing this walk once again which we hadn't done for a good while. The ground was very muddy so good, waterproof shoes are essential. Most of the climb is easy but the last bit is rough and quite steep. The views are well worth the effort - spectacular views looking down over the village and the sea

Perspective From On High
Aug 2020 • Family
Easy to access from Ullapool town centre via a signed pathway near the High School. Leisurely stroll up to a viewpoint that shows off Ullapool's landscape and surroundings, dominated by mountains, sea and Loch Broom. Easy walk and well worth it for the perspective

Good views of beautiful Ullapool
Aug 2019
This climb is worth the time and effort. Start from town for the longer walk or drive up partway via a road on the southern exit from town locals or the travel info place will help or give you the map. This second option probably saves you an hour, but it is still a good work-out to the top. Views are great

Best way to see Loch Broom and surrounds!

This is a fantastic way to spend a few hours - meandering your way up to the summit of this glorious hill.

You get amazing views and the choice of paths is wonderful.

We did it in the rain so got drenched and our shoes covered in mud but it didn't put us off.

A Favourite Walk
Aug 2019
Our favourite walk when visiting Ullapool. Our four dogs love the freedom. The views Are amazing in all directions. There are small streams and puddles so the dogs get drinks on the way. Slightly strenuous and good for my expanding waistline.

Great place to walk
Aug 2019
There are several paths including one up the steep side of the hill, but you can omit this and wander along and optionally down the other side to the loch and back (7 miles for that in total). the wildlife is unexpectedly good for so near a town: dragonflies, flowers, birds.

Consider the extra mile to Loch Achall
Aug 2019 • Solo
I agree with most reviews: great views, nice walk, good path. I continued walking to the Loch and into the glen. It gave me a feeling of remoteness, and solitude, so quit and impressive. I took the trail back up after the loch and went down to Wakefield and then followed the river trail back to the beach and camping site. Total time was about three hours. Google Ullapool Hill for a trail map.
