My husband had tour with owner/miller and said it was very informative. I could not manage stairs so stayed in shop. Very friendly and helpful staff. I loved that that you could buy flour from the mill and a good selection of preserves and cakes. A great place to visit

Did not manage to find when it was open so only viewed it from outside but it is an impressively beautiful building and has constantly rotating sails. Beware the canal-side access road is very narrow and cannot allow two cars to pass.

We have visited a fair few windmills but this is the best. It is a fully working mill, not a museum. So yes it was dusty, and the sails do make a noise, but it is a working mill making fresh flour commercially. It is 200 yrs old this year so it obviously not modern, it is kept in good working order. You can go all around the mill on the outside balcony. (the hand rail is low so watch the youngsters)
It is not really a place for disabled who can't climb steep wooded stairs , it would be impossible to alter the mill for wheelchair users , so sadly not a place for them
We were give a tour by one of the millers, who was very good at explaining things.
As we left we met the owner another fascinating person who told us even more.
The whole experience was friendly and very informative.
As this is a working mill, not a hobby mill, there are no guard rails and no notices everywhere it's a place where common sense still prevails in this world of cotton wool.
Please don't change as it will spoil the nature of this wonderful experience.
But remember it's a fully operational windmill commercially producing flour the old fashioned way and as such is a place well worth seeing before there is none left.
All six of our group rate it as a full ten stars.
Thanks for a brilliant visit

Absolutely brilliant! A fascinating, friendly and comprehensive conducted tour of the mill from top to bottom.
An amazing place.
My only regret was that the mill wasn't working when I visited, due to lack of wind. But the guide said I could come back later in the day if the wind picked up.
Highly recommended ... I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!

Went for a closer looks as saw the windmill from afar. Although closed at the time it transported us back 100+ years. Amazing survival and credit to Boston

Far from being a hidden gem, the Maud Foster dominates the skyline, especially when the sails are turning. A visit is a fascinating experience with an informative and comprehensive commentary from one of the owners. A charming, unusual and roomy flat is available and is highly recommended.
