Parking was easy and not overly expensive. The walk from the carpark into town only took 5 minutes and the walk passes King Edward V1 Almshouses with a board outside explaining its history. The market square and shops give it a real feel of a...More

Discovered Saffron Walden with its gorgeous market Square (markets occur Saturdays and Tuesdays), and beautiful architecture - especially it’s half timbered houses, particularly along Castle Street. I enjoyed Saffron Walden with its old buildings, the tribute to HMS lapwing in front of the church, the almshouses, the market square and helpful tourist information centre. Plenty of places to eat and watch the world go by and of course places to visit...More

A trip to another century. Quaint houses. Boutique hotels and great little historical landmarks. Town has existed for about 600 years. Visit on a weekend. Market day. Castle ruins.
