This is a National Trust property and so pricey unless you are a member, in which case it is free to enter. It is most famous for being the home of Sir Francis Drake for a number of years and much of the house is...More

It is picturesque but the house is a museum, with blinds drawn and ltems in glass cases, I like to see a house as it was lived in, not many rooms open to the public. Worth a visit if nearby. There are estate walks around...More

What a great place to visit. Staff were friendly and helpful and there was plenty of scope for dog walking, with them allowed off the lead in the woodlands. Courtyard cafe good. Elizabethan gardens worth a look and the house itself was magnificent

Spent a happy 45 mins walking around exploring before the abbey itself opened. The Cosmic egg is currently here. Interesting, impressive. The gardens are well maintained and lovely. Ancient building, lots of history.

Fascinating building, fascinating history and fascinating owners. Original finishes add to the wonder and the artefacts are equally enthralling. Good walks to contemplate the adventurous spirit of times gone by and an airy cafe
