This is the first thing I take visitors to see. I find it moving and thought provoking every time I see it. Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and bars in the area, and good views out to sea.

As many memorials across the uk but this has "Tommy", The WWI soldier commemorating the 11 th day of November 1918 when armistice was called. This gave "Tommy" his correct name of 1101. You can easily picture the need to rest after months/years of battling...More

Personally I wouldn't make a special effort to visit this particular war memorial as it is not my local one and I have no family or friends associated with this area. It is a typical, quite ordinary memorial but is kept clean and well-maintained. It...More

We arrived with friend on 10th November and found a very tranquil place. The new attraction to the Memorial Garden is a monument to Tommy 11.01. A WWI monument which was very nostalgic on this day prior to Armistice Day. I don't think the "Poppy...More

Considering this is a small town every year they have a well presented parade at the war memorial on the green which most of the town try to attend.
