We took the "Riding & Hiking in the Valley Reykjadalur" and were very happy with the experience.
After getting acclimatized with our horses, our guides took us on a 2hour ride. The ride was comfortable and the horse was responsive and gentle. Following the ride,...More
I visited Eld Hestar with a group of 20 women. We are experienced riders but are all over 60 yrs young! Some of us had not ridden in English saddles and were a bit apprehensive of them. Do not be discouraged by that. After a...More

If you want to sample a bit of the real Iceland, Eld Hestar is a great choice. We booked only the one-hour tour for three adults and a five-year-old but had a full experience. The guide led our five-year-old on his horse, but he had...More

I haven't personally, just a day ride (and loved it) but I know others who have done it. They recommend it if you have experience riding. You spend a lot of time on the horses, obviously, and you're exposed to more elements (i.e. the horse is scared, injures itself, etc.). I don't think you'd need to be an expert rider by any means but comfortable enough with horses to know the discomfort and possible problems that come with spending a lot of time on horseback.
Hope you enjoy!
