We weren't sure if we should go to this waterfall since it's off the main road and there was a weather/ travel advisory the day we had it planned but we sure are glad we did! It was amazing. I definitely recommend a 4x4 to...More

We saw many waterfalls in Iceland (Dettifoss (and Selfoss upstream), Gullfoss, Skogafoss and Godafoss) but the Aldeyjarfoss, for us, was the most spectacular. We went to Godafoss which is just off Highway 1 which is a nice waterfall but very touristy ... there were 12...More

Aldeyjarfoss is hands down my favorite waterfall that we saw in Iceland. It is difficult to desire in words the experience we had there. We drove there from Godafoss also a must see. It was about a 45 min drive south drive on a gravel/dirt...More

This was an incredible waterfall to photograph. It was one of the few sunny days that we could photograph. We were able to walk along the path to the basalt columns and the beautiful waterfall. The whole scene is magnificent, from the river to the...More

After a long drive over a very bumpy road we finally arrived at the waterfall. Just a short walk to the stunning basalt columns. This was really worth it, but glad we had the 4wd. Couldn’t imagine a 2wd making it. And if the weather...More

What makes this waterfall so great is all about the setting. The water plunges from this valley against the basalt columns. I also loved how the columns and rocks in themselves were sort of carved as a cavern. When we were there, it had been...More

We loved to visit Aldeyjarfoss and it is easy to walk down to it from the parking. Driving through Bárðardalur is beautiful að well. I can highly recommend a visit to this beautiful place.
