Beautiful watery views set in a volcanic landscape. So much to explore in this area. Beware the mosquitoes!

Although am sure it’s beautiful here we had very low cloud rain and snow whilst here so couldn’t actually see anything. So come when weather prospects are better

Lake Myvatn has many interesting geological feature around it and while lake is lake, the surrounding features make it great. Of course, there are lots of birds, swans and small hiking places so keep some a day's time for the area.

At first sight the lake doesn’t look all that impressive but if you have the time to drive around there are some beautiful views to be had.

There is a lot to do in this area. Exploring via car is the best way to see all of the sights. Wear your hiking shoes or not. Check out places to see in this area before you arrive.

Serene and crystal clear shallow waters that reflect the islets and clouds. Watch out for the midges though. Be sure to bring a head net, since these small nonbiting insects like to crawl up your nose or into your ears.

I camped on the edge or the lake which made for a beautiful sunrise! Some great places to eat nearby but beware, places close early even in summer. Nearby blue lagoon and hot caves make this lake a great central location hub.

This is one of the most beautiful lakes in Iceland and that is saying a lot. Take in a bath while you are there at the geothermal springs. Scenic views are definitely worth stopping for.
