We finally found the dirt road that leads to the parking area to do this hike. It was hot and halfway thru I turned around. Later we went up to the Sedona airport sunset viewpoint and saw Snoopy in all his spender from there. Hiking in these hot areas is complicated. Take plenty of water and good shoes. But if you don’t want to hike and see it anyway, you can from the airport viewing area. Or at least I think that was Snoopy??😝

Great trail. Need your All Trails app up to navigate up to snoopy as the trail is not marked well. Lots of people saying this is an easy walking trail - that’s if you stay on Marg’s trail walking around the rock at the bottom. You need to take the route up to the rock which gets steep and very rocky. Definitely had to use my hands in several places to ascend. It’s a great path!

Snoopy Rock is one of the better known rock formations surrounding Sedona. However, you have to know where to look. You can't hike to it. You can see if while driving but for everyone else's safety, stop to look. Your best bet is somewhere in the vicinity to the "y." (It's where 89A and 179 meet at the roundabouts just south of Uptown. Look west. You'll see a larger, jagged rock formation with a smaller formation lower and to the right. That right formation is Snoopy Rock. He's lying on his back with Woodstock on his nose.

We google mapped directions to Snoopy Rock from downtown Sedona and every turn had us going up a Private road. Least to say we did not follow these directions but did make it to a view point where we could see the rock but wasn’t as clearly seen as Snoopy as you would have thought, and no sign of Lucy. Sounds like doing a private tour is the best way to see it.

I overlooked this rock from the end of the airport trail, and at first, I was not able to recognize the shape right away. However, once you see it, you will keep seeing it. For your information, look for snoopy that is lying down.

I was told that the rock looks very similar to Snoopy lying on his back when viewed from the side.
If you use your imagination to imagine the small protruding part as a nose,
it certainly does look like it.
However, I don't think you'd be able to see it unless you know the character.
I guess it's something unique to this local area.

The guide at Pink Jeep 4x4 pointed it out to us before our tour. When we were wine tasting at The Art of Wines, the rock is definitely "there" from the plaza we were at.
Snoopy is laying down, head to the left. Woodstock with him. His tummy and feet pointed towards the sky. Sure, some imagination is needed, but we just love Snoopy!

Snoopy is one of the more tourist visible red rock formations right off of Rt 89A soon after leaving uptown Sedona heading toward Flagstaff. There is a parking area right past the Midgley Bridge where you can see Snoopy without getting killed by the volume of traffic in that area.

The red rocks of Sedona are magnificant and awe-inspiring, but most of the rocks don't particualarly look like their namesakes. However, the Snoopy Rock really does look like Snoopy -- you have to see it in person as the pictures don't do it justice.
I don't have the hiking skills (or the time in Sedona) to climb, but this was just great to enjoy. Snoopy is a major land-mark and there are postcards available, so no need to worry if your photos don't do him justice.
Make sure to see Snoopy while in Sedona.

You can view Snoopy from a number of vantage points. There are nice, gentle hikes nearby so you can get into the red rocks and still see him. Be sure to look for Woodstock and Lucy on the formation as well!

how long is the like and what is the terrain level ???

You should refer to Pink Jeep Tours. Snoopy Rock is behind their office. Snoopy Rock sits at the top of a hill with fairly rough terrain. Pink Jeep Tours should probably be able to let you know how close they can get you. However, because Snoopy Rock can be seen from the center of town fairly well, you can get pretty good close up pictures with any camera and really good pictures with a decent zoom on a DSLR.

The answer for downtown Sedona is 3,426 ft above sea level. Snoopy Rock is a small rock formation across Oak Creek in downtown Sedona. There is a small trail that leads to the top. Snoopy Rock is a 30-40 foot high rock formation(Snoopy lying on his back) on a small hill just across Oak Creek in downtown Sedona across from the Chamber of Commerce office. The rock itself appears small compared to other rock formations in the area.
