This 400-acre park has five miles of hiking trails and plenty of water for boating, swimming and fishing. There are also campsites and cabins for rent. Roper Lake is located approximately 6 miles south of Safford and consists of a 32-acre lake.
I highly recommend this park. We have stayed in the cabins here before. The lake is nice. They are pet friendly. The bath house is close. The natural hot springs is nice. Great place to fish. And bring your mountain bike.
Had planned on spending the day here fishing. BUT, the cost of a non-resident license stopped that. Still wanted to see what it was all about. The $10.00 fee was reasonable for what this park had to offer. Swimming/covered picnic area was very nice. Little...More
We like this spot! While Patagonia Lake is closer to us, we enjoy this lake for different reasons. It’s quiet, bicycling is easy for little ones as traffic is minimal, hot tub is great! However, watch the bees that visit garbage near by. They’re attracted...More
Very nice lake with cabins you can rent year round and enjoy the day fishing, hiking, or just grilling. $10 gets you a day pass and make sure you have your state fishing license... Beware of the mountain lions...
Very nice campground that is clean and well kept up. We stay in the winter so I imagine the summer is hopping here with the lake.
Nice little natural hot tub that you can enjoy. Plenty of trails to walk and if you want more,...More
The campground is nice and broken up into three loops. All the sites are level and well maintained. We stayed in the Cottonwood Loop which, in addition to the fire pit had a ramada as well. As is common with state parks, at least in...More
Very nice place to stay, clean, quite, very accommodating. Very 1st class and well maintained, room for Big Rigs, level pads. We stayed 3 days in AZ winter, summer got's to be great. Real nice small lake.
We love this park and were there in 2014 and decided to end the year 2017 there. Good friends also brought their camper, their first time there and loved it. Clean, friendly, wonderful sites, and a plethora of flora and fauna with dark night skies...More

There are many locations that would be suitable to me. My guess is that you would be best to be close to the restrooms / shower near the center section (second driveway) and then anything IMMEDIATELY to the left (it could be the end of a one way circle. There really is no bad site unless you are sensitive to sound from the road, but the park is closed / gated at night.

Thank you for your question. Roper Lake is a beautiful place to enjoy the water. The cost to enter the park for the day is $7 per carload of up-to four people. There are restrooms, but no food available, so you might want to bring a picnic lunch or even barbecue. The Park store there also sells great souvenirs to remember your visit by. If you visit the parks website, you'll see a family splashing in the waters, right at the top of the page.
I hope you have a great trip and will enjoy all of the beautiful sights Arizona provides!
