The Old House of Government (Maipú 465) is a second seat of the End of the World Museum, whose Foundational House is located in Maipú 173. The Old House originally served as the residence of the Governor. Later, in different stages, it was the seat of Government, the first seat of the National Radio of Ushuaia, Police Headquarters, Territorial Legislature and Provincial Legislature. In its eight rooms an important variety of pieces linked to the legislative work as well as to other facts of the history of Tierra del Fuego are exhibited.

An annex of the Museo del Fin del Mundo, this is the old government house, and the main features of interest are the old legislative meeting room and the collection of maps of Tierra Del Fuego.

Had to pay for the entry for this museum which only had 2 rooms. Very disappointing plus no evplanations in English, only Spanish. No concessions for European pensioners!!

We visited here the day before we left for Antarctica and learned a great deal about the early history of Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego. The ticket we purchased at the End of the World Museum got us in here too.

Lots of interesting photos and histories here plus a few artifacts - like the old shopping center token slot machine! 30 minutes should be enough time to spend here. Staff was helpful. Cost minimal. Your ticket (10 pesos) gets you access to the Maritime museum...More

This was an average museum with basic displays in general. The wildlife display was good. Our ticket from the maritime museum also allowed us in to this museum. One plus was the diplays were also in English.
