This place is very important and you should know it if you are looking for a hope or solution to a problem. also its environment draws attention to the number of plates in the form of thanks to the deceased.

Shrine after shrine to a woman who it is claimed nursed her baby for three days after her death. You will find shrines for truckers, houses, horses, weddings, and the sculptures in some of them are ghoulish. I recommend you plan this as part of your visit.

It is hard to explain if you should or not visit, but I'll try.
It depends on who you are, to find this place interesting. I did like it for my own reasons, but if I was just a tourist with not much time I would have regretted.
So if you are just a tourist looking for a cool place to visit, skip this, this is not your call.
If you are interested in the culture of the locals and more of an anthropologist, you will have a great experience.
People around believe in this woman who died crossing the desert trying to reach her husband (deployed) while holding her baby. The baby survived and was found breast feeding on his dead mother. So they say she's a saint. No, nobody told me what happened to the baby afterwards.
So at the entrance of the oratory you will see hundreds of mockups of houses made by people who asked the "corpse" (Difunta=corpse) to help them to buy a house. They usually bring the mockup when they succeed. The same happens with cars and motorcycles, reason why you'll see thousands of plates (copies of the originals) hanging on the door frames and all over the place, really!
To me it is very interesting that the saint is so dear to them, but at the same time, they leave dirty diapers and cigaret butts among the mockups (really nasty!).
There is a section with tons of stuff that was brought by believers to the oratory or somehow donated. That section was nice.
There some restaurants around, but they're not good.
I would recommend this place to very curious and open minded people who have time to spend or to people looking for the real side of the local culture!

It´s truly awkward place. If you want to explore genuine local customes, it´s a good experience. If you do not believe in town mysteries, avoid this trip.

actually visited this place in july 2011. after seeing so many difunta correa shrines on the side of argentine highways, i think i was expecting to be blown away by the place. the shrine was interesting and i enjoyed looking around but it also was a tad grungy. if you're in the area, though, it's worth the detour as it's a cultural gem and oddity for sure!

How many miracles attributed to the Difunta Correa? There is so much stuff there given to her as proof of gratitude that you wander amongst little wooden houses, licence's plates, sport trophies and so on wondering about that popular cult which is so huge in Argentina. Incredible. A must see!
