The area
Neighbourhood: Palermo
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.

A mess. A disorganised place where you cannot reserve a space really and all the group has to come at the same time or you will besitting ay different places with strangers, who will also be eating and clinging the plates while music plays. Terrible service the servers are a force to be reckoned with, when will the next item fly towards you is something you need to be aware. Keep your personal items of the table they will spill things. Good music though which is a shame. They gave me a palce but not to my friend who came 10 minutes alter and refused to refund mine for the 10 minutes.

By luck, we got in to a performance by the Dino Saluzzi Quintet. This a good venue for live music. They have food, but we did not try it.

in case you are a big fan of milongas on Monday evening, you may well ignore this venue. too small and poorly ventilated, precarious restrooms and quite fumble service in the front bar.

only good artists may turn this venue in a cool night out.

We saw a great bandoneon concert, with bass, piano and a singer. Small tables in a cozy space and quite reasonable considering the top echelon performers.

We came here three times during our three week stay. First to enjoy international talent as part of the BA Jazz Fest 2016, next to see the "house band" Orquesta Victoria, and the third time to try our luck with tango lessons.

With the exception of the Jazz Fest night, each night the place was packed with people who cam to dance - and that of course meant tango.

Wonderful seeing the variety of styles and skill levels. I know that I will return here - hopefully to dance myself - the next time we visit B.A.

We love to see Argentine tango and most places with such entertainment are in La Boca district of Buenos Aires. We stayed in Palermo about 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic. We did some research and found this place, a short taxi ride away. We absolutely loved the place, the show, the friendly local crowd, and everything about it except the food. It is not a place to dine but a place to take tango lesson, watch locals dance, listen to live band music, and drink. All at reasonable prices. For example tango lesson is only 70 pesos (US$5). Highly recommend it if you like tango!

Alternative jazz/tango bar in Palermo. You'll love the theater. Absolutely charming. You are going there to drink and to listen to music. Have a dinner at A nos Amours.

Music was very good - but to keep our reserved spots we had to arrive an hour early and stake claim to our seats - which were not that comfortable (for an hour + and then the set)

The ambience was good & the staff friendly and helpful.

That being said we will return when back to BA.

I have been to Café Vinilo during two trips to BA, and more than once on each of those trips. I always look forward to it and the musicians are always first rate. They offer a wide range of entertainment showcasing a variety of musical styles (jazz, folk, tango , blues), so check online for the calendar of events and you can reserve and pay the cover charge on line in advance (always a good idea as there is limited seating).

If you like tango music then book on a night when Orquesta Victoria is playing there - who are superb. You can even take a free tango lesson on those nights or just watch the talented local dancers in a pre-show tango dancing session.

They have a small restaurant out front with a limited menu and you can get food brought to your table in the club. Beer and good quality wine are available at reasonable prices.

Bottom line - if you want to see very good quality entertainment when in BA, than Café Vinilo should be high on your list.

We went to Cafe Vinilo on our last night in BA and it was probably best that way or I would have compared every subsequent meal to it. We had dinner in the front cafe (to get in, you have to get buzzed in by staff, a bit worrisome when the building looks more like an apartment than anything else) and after our delicious meal and wine (good, but nothing earthshattering), we were told we could head back to the theater where there was a table with our number on it for the performance.

Before the slated performance, the center of the floor was mostly cleared of tables and local students and dance enthusiasts danced to tango playing on the speakers. Then the lights dimmed and we quietly ordered drinks from our waitress as the fantastic band came out to perform. Tango fans and indifferent listeners alike were transfixed by the band that night, and it was easy to imagine we had traveled back to the city when Argentina was the best place to see the tango.
